ryne Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Hey everyone. Me and my wife recently purchased kayaks and are looking for good put in and take out spots on the DuPage or Fox River. Good fishing is just a bonus, but we are just looking for somewhere to safely kayak. We have kayaked the vermillion and little vermillion and are just looking for something new. She keeps googling spots, but i knew this was the place to go for kayaking info. thanks Quote
Mike Clifford Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 The Illinois Paddling Council and Open Lands collaborated on a website a few years back that has that info. Don't have the address saved, maybe a search will turn it up. Somebody please post it, if found : ) Quote
Gary L Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 You could put in below the Montgomery Dam and have another car at Orchard Road for a take out point. You will have to go around the Oswego Dam but fishing is good along that route and you should be able to have lunch by one of the many Islands or just go back to Oswego and have lunch. Great area and I would put in before Sunrise and watch it come up as you catch Smallmouths in the eddies and around the fastwater riffles. Quote
Guest Don R Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 If you launch below the Monkey dam it's all good until the Yorkville dam. Unless there's a new Oswego dam that I don't know about. Quote
Gary L Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 I got my Dams crossed up. Been a while since I walked the river. The dam was removed quit a while ago. Quote
Guest airbornemike Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 I use this http://www.paddleaway.com/gmap Quote
Chris Meade Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 For West Branch of DuPage consider St. Charles Road to Mack Road. Having said that, the water is dropping continuously. Expect to do quite a bit of walking right now. Quote
Jim J Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 yea West Branch has two inches of water in a lot of places. Quote
mannym Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Paddling.net is a good source as well. Worth checking out. Quote
