Jim J Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 On Saturday, I was able to get my new Coosa out for the first time on the river. been rigging it out a bit and need to start getting used to it and figuring out some stuff. Did a short two hour stint paddling upriver and floating back. I have loading it by myself figured out well and in 15 minutes I'm loaded and ready to go. I loaded it on Friday night so I could get out early on Saturday. Well Saturday morning was about 30 degrees or so and there was some frost on the old boat... The boat worked great and I was able to start getting comfortable. Here are some pics I took. Quote
bbonney1835@sbcglobal.net Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Very cool. I like the ISA sticker too, can civilians get those also? Quote
Rich Page Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Sharp lookin' setup! I've gone another way via pontoon. Three rods, ambitious. Enjoy. Rich Quote
Jim J Posted March 21, 2011 Author Report Posted March 21, 2011 HA PM me your full real name and address, (not something like Lucas McCain) and I'll mail you some. If you want it to look like mine, you'll have to take some real, itty bitty scissors and trim the white border. Then... you'll have a cool looking sticker. Oh, are your dues paid up? Quote
bbonney1835@sbcglobal.net Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 William Bonney 1835 Chippendale Rd, Hoffman Est, IL 60169 Jim, thanks for the offer! I'll send you postage. And yes dues are renewed. Bill Quote

Must have had help from some muscular guy like me. Quote
Jim J Posted March 22, 2011 Author Report Posted March 22, 2011 HA Took me a while to figure out. Threw a piece of rug on the bag top of car. Lifted the front on to the edge. Went to the back and lifted and pushed. Kayak slides right up the rug and on to the cushiony cradle things. Throw a couple of tie downs and I'm ready to go. Those blue tubes are actually really great. They pump up with air (I leave them pumped up) and they strap through the doors. They have rings and then I strap the kayak down to the rings and it's solid and works great. Quote
Guest Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 I'm pretty sure you could fit that kayak inside a gran caravan kitty korner. Faster and easier especially with the cold weather and you could always live in the van down by the river if you should come home and you're keys don't fit in the door. Nice boat. Phil f Quote
Jim Kast Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 I want to see the video of you doing a backflip in it. Take your time and practice... I'll wait until next week for the video. Quote

Mike Clifford Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Tiny scissors on the ISA sticker? You don't have an Exacto knife around the house? HA Quote
Jim J Posted March 22, 2011 Author Report Posted March 22, 2011 Someone else mentioned the exacto knife... I keep those tiny scissors on hand for nose hairs, ear hair etc. so they handle well for me. I have some extra's if anyone needs a pair. JimK..only a week? Do you know my age? Quote
bbonney1835@sbcglobal.net Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 I'm just like the cool kids now! Thanks Jim Quote

Chuck Burns Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Interested to know more about how you car-topped it. I have been spent the winter trying to think up an an efficient way. I noticed that you are using some type of inflatable in place of an expensive rack. Quote
Jim J Posted March 27, 2011 Author Report Posted March 27, 2011 Here is a link. Called the Handirack Works great. http://www.orsracksdirect.com/malone-handirack-inflatable-roof-rack-mpg452.html Quote
Chuck Burns Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Thanks for the reply. I have heard about them, but was not sure how well they would work. Its always good to know of someone who has actually used a product and then recommends it. I'll place an order today. One more Q - what do you do for bow and stern tie downs? Quote
