Rob G Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Well now that you have my anchoring system taken care of, two more questions, Has anyone mounted oars in their canoe ? (Read it in Holschlags' fine book) or does anyone use a double sided paddle like used in kayaks, it seems it would have to be rather long for the clearance but what do I know? Quote

I've got oarlocks on my Coleman Scanoe, a slightly wider version of a canoe. Works well when I'm out by myself. Quote
Mike G Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 Rob, I use an ultralong kayak paddle with my 15' Wenonah Solitude. Also with my jon boat. You guessed right. It works. Quote
Rob G Posted February 26, 2011 Author Report Posted February 26, 2011 Mike, have any idea how long your kayak paddle is? Just looking to do more solo paddling and fishing this year. Quote
Mike G Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 Mike, have any idea how long your kayak paddle is? Just looking to do more solo paddling and fishing this year. Rob, I have 2. Both are about 8.5 feet - 250 cm. 8 ft might be enough if the place where you sit in the canoe is low and narrow. But 8.5 is long enough to use in almost anything called a canoe. Quote
gordon p Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 I use a kayak paddle as well , works great. Quote
