Hi ISAer's

Not sure what this is all about. Was e-mailed this today.

Requires that the Dept. of Natural Resources and the Illinois Historical Preservation Agency offer to lease to any interested unit of local government, non-profit organization, or public or private college or university the operation and maintenance of any closed State Park or Historic Site for One Dollar for between one to five years.

Mark,

I smell politics here. Some do-gooders want to open public parks for public use with local governments footing the bill. At the club all the fellows agree that this is a shameless waste of our tax dollars.

What is a shameless waste of taxpayer dollars? That a non-profit organization, or private university pay for the maintenance and operation of a park? If a local government takes over the park, it takes it off the budget of the state. The state is saving money not wasting it. Can you explain what you mean?
