Mike G Posted July 16, 2015 Report Posted July 16, 2015 The story is that when the Danvise hit the market about 20 years ago, a lot of shops promoted it as an entry level rotary. They figured that the initial sale would lead to another sale later when the tyer upgraded to a high end vise like a Renzetti. Surprise! The upgrade sales never came. Apparently the Danvise did it all. Though the retail has come up in the last few years, you can still get this true rotary for less than $100 MSRP. Stockard has a good sale on for July. I consider the vise plus extension arm the best deal. http://www.jsflyfishing.com/danvise?utm_source=July+2015+mid-month+give-away&utm_campaign=July+2015+midmonth&utm_medium=email Quote

Mike G Posted July 17, 2015 Author Report Posted July 17, 2015 Ben, This FFO review of working man's vises (less than $150) is a classic comparison. It is a good point to begin for the average shopper. http://www.flyfishohio.com/Vise%20Review%201/Fly_Tying_Vise_Shoot-Out.htm By design it does not cover the higher end vises. So to be fair take a peek at the Renzettis, Royals, Norvises, and Dynakings too. If ISA holds tying sessions near you, they are good places to take a look at what other guys are using. Quote
