Good photos all. I noticed you got the kid packing a third grip, good job.

Jeff great to have you aboard, to bad you cant make the outing Saturday. You would have made a welcome addition and gotten to meet some of our members.
Keep an eye on the calendar (located in the upper right corner), we will be starting our central winter meetings in November. You might even beable to hook up with Tim Smith to drive togeather.

That's just a few minute delay anyway, right?
HA!

#40 Man's Law
No Man shall participate in the practice of Line dancing, Celtic step, Hip-hop and the Tango while listening to their MP3 player on the water.
This rule MUST be ammended to read:
No music playing device shall be tolerated on any stream or river.
To violate this rule means the immediate dunking of said violator and especially the offending electronic device.
NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

I wasnt wondering anything , but that is a darn good question.
I guess we will we have to wait until the water goes down to find out.
Steve are you close to that area? Can you check it out and report back?
-
You made it the Walsh concert???? Fantastic!
Great video by the way.

Great news!
But, we need to watch our backs. These large companies arent known for giving up to easily.
The article in this months Midwest Fly Fisherman about the bad shape of the Great Lakes was a real eye opener for me. I had assumed, like most people, that everything was well and good in that system.

every time I return from wading I always-always- wash both my waders and felt soled shoes in soapy water and thoroly let them dry.I do this more for the benefit of my equipment than conservation reasons./quote]
I have always heard that if you let your shoes dry throughly that it prevents the spread of whirling disease.
Other stuff I dont know.
Anyone else have any ideas.

One of the things I always take with a grain of salt is mention of 3-5 lbers in any stream, by any local. Translates to mean 16-17"er. That's a big fish compared to the 8-12"ers they are used to seeing.
I think you have hit the nail on the head with that observation. Very good point.

I agree with Brenden's statement. Measure it, and let it go!
Weight not, want not.
Yep!

Yesterday after work I was observing a few decent smallies when a large dark shadow turned into a snapping turtle. As it swam under me, sure enough, three medium smallies were right with him, never more than six inches away. I made a mental note to cast to turtles in the future.
Ha!
I was fishing Sugar Creek in Indiana Tuesday and noted the same behavior with a soft shell.
Came to the same conclusion.

Yep, I will be there. I plan to bring my son-in-law to lend a hand.

"Canuck" need I say more

I just spooled up with Evolution yesterday and took a few casts in a little pond. 8lb on spinning reels. It handles and casts nicely. Obviously I need to fish it more to really have anything to say, but my first impression is good.
Gregg
Iam fishing 6# Mean Green this season and I love it. Its super limp, I can fill my spinning reel spools almost to the top and it never comes off. Strength is great. No gripes with it except visibility. I cant see the line all the time, depending on the angle/direction of the sun.
How is the visibility of the Evolution.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys,
Rich, I hope I can add a few to the mix too!
John, yes I'm too spoiled up north, been really lucky the past few years. However, this year I caught a nice Smallie down at Lake Clinton, my biggest in Illinois so far.
Mike, you betcha, I'm a member!
On Lake Clinton????????? Cool!
This is the first I have heard of someone catching a smallie on the lake. Were you fly fishing?
-
I'll be putting that together soon, Steve.
Thanks!
I'll also be getting in touch with you regarding the IL State Fair, if you're up for it again.
That is 8/18. That only requires 2 people.
Yes I plan on helping, looking forward to it.
-
Mike, I plan to be there and I may have one other person with me.
Where to meet at the Lake, time, other details??

I've had the same problem for a few years now. I found a pair of flip up reading glasses that attach to my sunglasses. Not the most stylish option I'll grant you, but quite a bit less expensive than the Costa Del Mar option.
Down mode
Flipped up
Scott, I also use that style and I really like them. I prefer clipping them to the brim of my hat when not in use that way I dont have the extra weight on my sunglasses. Good product but a real bear to find if you happen to drop them in the river.
-
I really wish I could have been there but other commitments kept me away.
Did you shock up any darters or rare fish.
I dont own a pair of neoprenes anymore, how bad was Dan's experience with the breathables? Would he do it again?
-
After taking a macro shot along the shore line this guy decided to join me in my canoe.
Forunately he didnt "charge" and I was able to beat the crap out of him with my paddle.
Surprisingly I didnt beat a hole in the boat
-
I don't think I'll make any plans to "wet wade" that body of water.
I dont think breathable waders would protect you in that mess. Get out the 1/4" thick neoprene duck waders.
-
Mike, are there any guidelines as to where you have posted signs in the past? Public, private accesses?
I have seen them in the central region at public accesses but I dont recall seeing any at rural bridges that we frequent.
-
They have them. I own a couple pair. I bought mine at REI in Oakbrook. Of course...that doesn't help you down there.
Don, what is the brand name on the qwik dry undies?
I usually dont get in that deep but on occasion it happens.
-
From what I've read, most ISA members prefer to stay on the safe side and wear waders if they are wade fishing.
I dont know Eric?? I think it may be wading wet over wearing the waders. I havent seen anyone in waders at Central outings.
How about it? A little impromtu survey.
Do you wade wet or do you use your waders?
Let us know what region are you most likely to be fishing in.
