I have always enjoyed my time spent at OMC and talking or listening to Joseph. It is my hope that Joseph will someday return to supporting the ISA and its flyfisherman. Until then he will be missed.
-
Rob, any chance you could do that pic again with a white or neutral color background? It would show the true colors of the flies alot better.
Nice looking flies by the way.

Those are pretty cool. I saw them in the "Outdoors" magazine today. I even thought about buying one.
But rocks are better: Rocks are always laying around, rocks are free and you dont have to carry them around.
Plus rocks are kinda cool to

I purchased an EZE-lap sharpener from Joseph at OMC and spent an hour learning how to use it.
It works really well, no more excuses about dull hooks now.

I guess we call them "Outings". We did have one on the Rock River this summer and at some of our outings members stay overnight at campgrounds.
If you watch our calender, members are invited to all outings. Bring a group over you will be welcome.
The Vermillion River Outing at Danville would be a good one and its reasonably close.

One of our members,Tim Sefried, bought one of the lighter weights but he still is looking for a reel.
Its killing me, I want to try it out.

You know you just cant go anywhere in the smallmouth community and not run in to that smilin face.
You are starting to get a reputation Jonn, congrats.
-
That was "very cool". I had to watch it twice.
It really got me pumped up to hit the White River again.

You guys are indeed forunate to have water so close.
My nearest water is 45 minutes awy so there is no breakfast smallies for me.

Thanks for the tip! Why do I get the feeling there's a story behind this nugget of wisdom?
Excellent Idea, Iam throwing in coverall's for tomorrow.

Sharps Barber and Shop soap.
Uhhhhhhhhh............these are quotes from the ad.
"One for me one for you"
"Do it solo or with a friend."
Im assuming you are personally endorsing this product?????????
And no.. Iam not purchasing any.

Are they, or the state, planning on stocking trout in Clear Creek??
Trout Unlimited had a major role in this. -
Really a great job and good pictures to document it.
Cant wait to see it for myself.
Its projects like this that make me wish I lived further north so I would have more opportunities to help.

It was a lot of fun and you always learn something at one of these events. This year one of the fisheries guys showed us a water scorpion. They look almost like a walking stick but thier two front appendages have tiny stingers.
Trent informed us that the blood coming from the gills of the smallmouth I'm holding was caused by all the mud in the water.

Clinton Lake, thats the third time Ive heard that. But I have never heard of a documented smallie being taken out of it.
I have fished the upper end where the Salt comes into the lake, alot, and never caught bronze. That was BISA.
If some one out there knows something I dont please inform me here or PM me. Iam curious now.

And to think I was getting a slight rush paddling the White River in Arkansas in my solo with two generators on.

I was okay with the camera until the last shot.
Something went really wrong with that picture.

Hoosier daddy?
Good one

Went out Friday to do alittle fishing.
The largest fish of the day at this point was self released after a short battle and for some reason I checked my hook on the back of my thumb and it felt a little dull. "Oh well maybe not" I commented to myself.
Next cast I had on an even larger customer and we had quit a struggle and I thought I had him and he threw the hook.
After a bit of thrashing around in the water, by me, I checked the fly and changed it.
I have never owned a hook sharpener and I dont think I have ever lost a fish because of a dull hook but maybeeeee.
Can someone help me here? I need a good product and just as importantly good instructions to use it.

I'd say skip the inflatable and buy a rack-even if just foam blocks to begin with-for the roof of the mustang.
I have a question for RICK or anyone who has used fiberglass canoe: How does it hold up in rocky shallow streams, especially if your idea of an anchor is to ram it up on a sandbar?
I have thought I'd love one of those 20 pound adorondack canoes, but am afraid I'd sink it by gouging a hole in the bow.
Gregg
Gregg, I have been using a 14' 6" Kevlar solo for 3 years and believe me it has not been babied at all. The shiney jellcoat is off the bottom and the fibers do show but I dont think its structurally damaged. I have been thinking about contacting Wenonah and ordering the mix and recoating the bottom. No reason why you couldnt do the same thing with fiberglass when you get to that point. Who makes the boat you are refering to?

That sure looks like the Oakwood Illinois sewage treatment plant outfall.
If its not they are twins down to the pipe and the gravel bar.
The first time I ran across "the green water" I took a sample and was going to report it until I looked at the area on Google Earth and saw the water retention ponds above the bluff. I was suprised to see a number of minnows swimming around in the stuff without any obvious stress.

Now THIS is hard core!
Mid-engine Porsche Cayman S. Two seater. You'd be surprised at how much room the front and rear boots have. Some day!
Fun topic for discussion.
Yikes! Are you kidding me?????????? Tell me he didnt bury an eye bolt in the front bumper for the tie down.
I cant believe they make a rack for it. Well I guess I have seen Porsche's with ski's on the top.

Mike,
Thule and Yakama make racks for almost any vehicle sold here in the U.S.
I love pontoons on the White River in Arkansas but for our waters, as previously written, to slow and hard to manuver. Besides the time needed to set up and tear down.
A Royalex material solo canoe is an excellent choice for our streams.

I did so much fishing one fall I got what they call tennis elbow. It hurt every time I set the hook, opened a door, ect. Someone showed me a stretching exercise and I haven't had any problems since. You take your arm and extend it straight out with palm in the air. Take your other hand and bend your four fingers down and towards your body. Do this on both arms and before and after fishing and you can prevent elbow tendinitis.
I developed a little tendonitis here late in the season after a week of flyfishing and paddling.
Your exercise gave me immediate relief of the discomfort I was having, with my arm at rest anyway. I will keep it up and see if it is a permanent solution.
Thanks Doc
