  1.   found a company called fatcow fishing they make very durable twister type tails.  . i and others have tried cutting some of them down and tied on to flies and jigs   with  good results .the unique silicone can be dyed and colored with markers . they come in a jar and coated with a gel type mixture  as its made for the saltwater striper crowd. can be wiped off and they dont dry out.. they gave out some of the 5.5 inch minnow baits with my order sorts like a fluke bait but a square type head with slot in the  the belly.  the color pink rubbed off after a dozen fish. but it can be dyed or recolored with prismcolor markers' will be trying it today after recoloring a purple top, bone colored body and orange belly

  2.  i do use alot of satin strands on my flies and jigs. i recently searched for a better green/olive color and found a nice shop.  .tablecloths factory wholesale i purchased about a dozen table renners 12 inches by 112inches  for about 1.29 each colors are great  i can bring some patches to the tying session tomorrow if your in need of some . i have plenty !

  3. i didnt have a list of items used at the tying session. ill post them here.

hooks 90 degree  black nickel victory brand from do it molds.com #11149,   90 degree daiichi #4660 bronze from dupage fly.   eagle claw 413 tinned 60degree from do it molds

material:  eyelash yarn from Premier Yarns.com     17 colors,208 yards per skein,3.99.  also  a short sparkly chenille called pixie dust. used as a body to bulk out satin material.

we also talked about small jigheads,  i get mine from chuck and debs.com

a tool i made for furling the yarn  is a pencil or dowel rod4-5inches long with a spring clip at the end . i helps with twisting the yarn 30 times . also a velcro patch on a stick.

with using satin. buy at craft store   it gets cut off a bolt of fabric. normally you have to buy a minimum of a foot length, but its 52inch wide  for about 2bucks    in drier winter months run it over a dryer sheet to remove static.  then cut into squares of 2,3 or 4 inches .  cut so the woven fabric is square , then pull out the strand 5 at a time.

  4. as long as we  get a few to sign up ill run a session. looking at Kappys restaurant in  north aurora[56 and 25]this would be Saturday march 23   noon to 3pm   we can tie jigs and flies using  the redneck ned hook,  some on a stroller type jig head and how to tie with satin  for flies and jigs .   bring gear to tie or sit and watch.    no charge  open to  anyone   . post up if interested   rich
