  1. Mark: I have suffix braid on all of my rods/reels. Ten pound on the spinners, and 20 pound on the casting reels...........I love it! Have not had any problems whatsoever. Sorry to hear that you have had some problems. Maybe perhaps you did get a bad spool. You are correct about the notch in the spool...............dumb idea. Now, when it comes to Cortland Masterbraid. I tried it on my casting gear and absolutely hated it! It would backlash very easily and when it did backlash, I had the line snap twice costing me two baits. I hated the color of the line even when it was new. I would challenge anyone to compre cortland and Sufix braid and get back to me on what you honestly think. Ken D., can you honestly say you have tried Sufix for any length of time?
  2. OOps..........I did not see that this issue had already been posted.
  3. Check out this! http://www.prairiestateoutdoors.com/index....closings_nov_1/ I myself absolutely love Kickapoo State Park near Oakwood. Losing that park, and the others, is a travesty. Absolutely ridiculous!!
  4. Hip waders won't get you too far in the Mack. Get a pair of waist-high breatheable waders..................you will love them.
  5. After seeing how-to instructions on the net, I think I can make them myself. But thanks for all the offers.
  6. Boy, this thread ouught to get some responses. I will try to keep my list brief: Classic Slider heads 3 inch tubes 4 inch slider worms Zara Spook Jr. Small buzzbait 1/4 & 3/8 oz. Spinnerbaits Rebel Craw crankbait Scout swim jigs That would give any river angler a start.
  7. Jim: Are you challenging me to a "cast off"? Bring it on!
  8. If there any doubters out there that still cannot believe that I have begun to enter the dark, dark world of fly fishing, here is your proof. Here I am actually hooked up with some fly rod bronze!!!
  9. That looks awesome! Sure would like to try one................hint, hint.
  10. Mark: thanks for the link, but my computer at school has been blocked from that site due to "hate speech".????????? Is there any other site where I can see their products?
  11. Oh yeah, duh, I never thought of that. Thanks Ron............I feel stupid now. I have some popper bodies at home. Looks like Sneaky Petes will be in plans for tonite.
  12. I wonder how long until Jim J. is wearing a Darth Vader helmet? You know I am going to try and convert him. I better work fast as he is fast approaching his "twilight years".
  13. Alright, after finding on the net the instructions for making a Sneaky Pete, I think i want to make my own. Problem is I cannot find the proper bodies for that particular slider/topwater bug. Every foam body I find has a concave head for popping. Where in the heck do I get the bodies for the Sneaky Pete? I want the size 2 and four.
  14. ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it.................keep em coming.
  15. How do the sizes work. Is it bigger number equals bigger Sneaky Pete. Or is it the other way around?
  16. I really like the action of the Sneaky Pete. I was wondering the best place to purchase some, or maybe some of you bassbuggers out there maybe make some that I could purchase? I see Cabelas has them for $5 apiece. Is this a normal price???? Please help as I only have one sneaky pete in my arsenal and you know what happens when you only have one.
  17. Count them down to the desired depth and crank them back with a moderate to fast retrieve..............and hang on! Of course, you can deviate a little. Stop and go has worked some as has just burning the swim jig right under the surface of the water. Rich: Yes, for the perch jig I would use a green trailer or any trailer that contains the same colors as the jig.
  18. Too late Ed. The disease has already advanced past the point of no return.
  19. The top jig is my new "Sexy Shad" pattern. It has a baby blue and gray back with silver sides and a white bottom. The bottom jig is the "Pattonsburg Perch". It has a black back, yellow sides, and an orange bottom. Have at them boys!
  20. Mark: You are right about the fly tying. I already have the basic supplies and have already made six fly rod poppers. I will have to take a pic and post my work on this site.
  21. It was my fly line and not my leader that twisted. And it twisted very badly. Maybe it was a first-night thing. I think I may pull the line off and then reel it back up.
  22. Went out fly fishing last night with a fresh spool of Rio Clouser line. Wow..........what a casting difference when compared with that level wind line that came with the reel. But, I developed one problem. After casting for about an hour, my fly line began to twist badly. What causes fly line to twist? I was able to get it out by cutting off the fly and doing some casting with just the fly line/leader. I was using the Murray's Murauder when it began to twist. Anyone know why the line twisted and what I need to do to prevent it??????
  23. Ron: You are the fourth person I have had tell me to go up one line size. I think I am going to try it with my six weight rod that is coming in the mail...........thanks.
  24. Ron: That is my plan - get a few flys for the top (by the way I have already made six fly rod poppers myself), a few flys for mid water (like the sparke minnow) and a few bottom flies. I really want to try and keep it simple. God knows I sure have not kept spinning and casting reel fishing simple I hope I can control myself when it comes to fly fishing...............wish me luck. Oh, by the way, not quite ready to let go of my other gear just yet............ but I will always entertain offers.
