Nice looking fly. What kind of eyes are on the fly (lead or stick-on)?

Nice looking flies John. They both could be passed off as hellgrammite or stone fly. What is the underbody of the first fly and what size hook?

yery nice what size is the hook
Rich, I experimented with both size 2 & 4. In the top picture, 2 of those flies were size 2 and the other 2 were size 4. The hooks were Mustad Ultrapoint 32833NP-BN 2 Extra Strong. They are 90deg jig hooks.
Thanks for the compliments everyone. Can't wait to try it out.

I started out wanted to tie Allen Sherman’s Fuzzy Grub that I witnessed the Menominee’s smallies couldn’t resist while fishing with him this year on the ISA Road trip, but I didn’t not have any EP Tarantura brush on hand. So I substituted the EP Tarantura brush with chenille and hackle. The finished fly was basically a Wooly Bugger with silicon rubber tail instead of the traditional marabou tail. Next, I thought maybe adding eyes would make the fly looks much more buggier. So it turned into this fly: The Sili Bugger.
Not sure if the fly already exists in another name, because it's basically a Wooly Bugger with silicon rubber leg tail and eyes.

Looks like we've got a good competition going on this touney! 10 more days to go guys.

Scott, please put me down for 8/8-8/11. Thanks.

I had Alan in my boat on Sunday and Monday. We did well both days. Each of us boated probably around 13-15 fish daily. 19”, 18.5” were the largest. Many were in 17-18 range. But majority was in the 16-16.5” slot. On Tuesday morning, I had Larry in the boat for only 10 minutes. Unfortunately a mishap occurred that cut our time on the water together short, but not before he boated a 19”er. I continued to fish solo to the take-out for a half day and boated 8 fish that day. The best part of the trip for me was sharing whisky around the campfire and telling fish stories.

RIP, Jude. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I've been searching for the copper body material on this fly with no success. Anyone knows what it is and where to get it?

The fly line standards that we are using today were developed back in the split bamboo era and are out dated for modern graphite rods, especially the fast action rods. I had been using SA Titan lines on all my streamer fact action rods and really like them. As Rob said, they are 2 weights heavier than the designated AFTMA line weight. So in this case, just match your fast action rod weight to the SA Titan line weight and you are set- 6wt rod to 6wt SA Titan line. SA also just came out with a new Titan Long which has longer handling section than the regular Titan. If you are the type of caster that like to carry a lot of line in the air, the Titan Long may be the line for you. The longer handling section also give you better line control in the water, mending.

As John said, it sounds like a chuck & duck. It also sounds like a modified Euro nymphing technique. Had tried the chuck & duck before. It has its times and places, but I didn't enjoy fishing that way.

I'd seen some gear guys fished with a spawn sack or a bead under a float with good success. The kings and the cohos would mostly be dead by then, but the browns and the steelheads would still be around.

Thank you Ed for getting us together and thank you everyone for attending. It was great pleasure to see and talk to such a passionate group of anglers. I believed I counted 15 attendees last night.
Several more came after I took these pictures.

Yes, only 3 more days.
The past several years, we'd been drawing about 15-20 attendees at each meeting. Hope to see more this year.

So looking forwarding to this event. It is always a pleasure and fun to host such a great group of fishers.

Alan did well with the BadHairDay and Fuzzy Grub.
