You can't argue with results and you sure have been catching the BIG Fish!!! Back to My point, I have a size 7 Cabella's youth waders with boots attached that are in Very good condition. 3. Thank you Mike for all you have done over the years in the ISA!! Your name has become synonymous with ISA conservation efforts as well as being a positive force at each and every event I have ever attended and you were present. The children at your house won't be young for long so enjoy every moment you can with them, God Bless you and your family and have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, Kevin Summers

  4. Looking for some access points besides the state park to do some wade fishing. Anyone want to share some techniques or feedback on what works in the apple would be appreciated. I have done some on-line reading and I am pretty confident that the Apple will be running a bit clearer barring rain then the Fox. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

  5. I received Tim Holschlag's book River Smallmouth Fishing for Fathers day and I must say it is an enjoyable read . There are a lot of chapters and even if you have this Smallmouth thing all figured out.... (LOL & LMAO) it gets you thinking about what your doing and what he is suggesting. A little bit of everything in here from boat rigging , favorite lures and reading river strucuture. I believe he has taken stuff he has written from his other 2 books and added some content into this book. Not a lot of good river smallmouth fishing books out there but I would say this is worth the money.

  6. Eight members met for 2 1/2 hours to cast 20 or so rods & test different lines or weights. Rain made for a slow start but we had fun anyway. Didn't have to share the park although it got a little muddy. Followed up with lunch at a nearby burger joint. My pick of best rod there today was Ed's Orvis fullflex 6wt. - 70's glass & very smooth with both a 6 & 7 wt. line. Some nice fast rods too- Al's St. Croix legend Elite 7 wt. feels like a 4 & casts a mile. Honerable mention to TFO mini magnum 6-8 wt. unquestionably the most rod for the money. Any one else want to weigh in?

I will weigh in John, YikeS  !!! I am pushing 220. ON a serious note, though I haven't crossed over to the dark side I can't help but notice how much time and effort you have been putting in for your group. I also have seen your name and face at the fishing outings so I thought I would offer a heartfelt word of thanks for your time and commitment to ISA. Kevin Summers

  7. Lunkers love nightcrawlers.. forgot the author's name but the title says it all. I have also read that nightcrawlers smell like crayfish which at this time of year is a major forage for smallies. When things SLOW down I am not too proud to pull out the octopus hooks and crawlers and catch bass when nobody else seem to be doing much.

  8. I echo Rich M's sentiments entirely!! Thanks to all who worked and gave of their day so others (ME) could enjoy the great fellowship of other anglers. It was great to see all of you after the winter, and to meet others who love Smallmouth fishing. Thanks to Matt who won my outing on the Fox, we will have a great day fishing the Fox.. Take care see you at Bass-pro for Bob Long. Kevin Summers aka The Fishin Musician

  9. Jim, I have an older Lowrance model LCD with a flasher and normal views screen. I have it in a box I built out of 1/2 inch plywood (marine) I believe. It is a bit heavy but if you pull it around on a sled its not too bad. Its powered by a dry cell battery which I have trickled charged for years. I have a clamp set up which I bought at Ed Shirley's It is somewhat of a brand name set up, though off the top of my head I can't remember the brand. I made a few adjustments and it works great on rentals. When ice fishing though my locator says it runs in real time it is a bit behind, however in flasher mode I can see crappies coming up to the jig (quite exciting) and it is a good tool once you learn its nuances. I paid close to $300.00 dollars in 2000 for the whole set-up, the main thing is getting the transducer to shoot straight down, I haven't a level on mine but that will do the trick, I usually just leave the clamp gizmo on a 5 gallon bucket and shoot it down the whole. Shabbona at night sounds like a great idea I'm sure there will be a lot of different set-ups to check out.

  10. Brian, I won a Jim Grandt rod at the Arlington show a few years back. I was working the Isa booth and was told I won a rod so off I went to retrieve my prize. It blew up on me when I hooked into a huge carp but Jim Grandt gave me a new rod the following year and it has been fantastic. It is on the lower end of the price scale. I believe its an all American rod. Medium light but it will handle all the river fish with ease and has a fast tip for Jigging. I used to Love my 6'0 Falcon low rider but I've been spoiled on the Better feel of this Grandt rod. have fun shopping!!!!

  11. Don, Though the water is dropping as Scott has pointed out it is still very dingy. With the bridge construction there is a lot of silt so it seems to take a bit longer to clear up then in the past. I haven't waded across river yet still a bit rough for my liking... so I'd lean on cancelling this weekend , Just my 2 cents, Kevin

  12. I told Don Rego to cut and paste my flyer for the Fox River Fishin Musician Guide Service out of Batavia Bait and Tackle. With all th construction and flooding last year the shop has had a rough time of making it go and they are considering closing the doors. Batavia Bait have been in business for 5 years now but aren't too sure if they will be open much longer. When I was an officer they donated some great items to the BLOWOUTS.. rod and reel combos, case plastic boards etc.. Karen Jason and Tim are just GREAT people and I hope they can continue this wonderful little shop on the bank of the Fox river. My service is geared to someone who wants to learn the Fox BUT may be a bit uncomfortable wading , as of yet I haven't lost or drowned a single client

Even with the up and down weather I had a great year down on the Fox , and spend many hours on the river to get a real feel on what is happening on the River. See ya at the Blowout... Kevin Summers
