Bterrill Posted November 27, 2008 Report Share Posted November 27, 2008 The trend in cold water river/creek fishing I have seen is fish collect in deeper slow pools which have good sun. Deep enough that they can remain unseen. Cover isn't as important as warmth so they are often in open water. Bigger fish can be caught in very normal places. I can only guess because they have packed on the pounds, larger fish have more energy stores to feed during cold periods. Anyways, Big fish are out of their top secret warm water feeding pattern- My favorite wintering hole has never produced a smallie above 18" during the warm months, produced 5 fish above that mark last winter including this monster Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
