Jeff Fox & I will run a bamboo rod builders gathering this Sunday at Glenwood Forest Preserve from 10 to 4. Bring your bamboo rods to cast & compare, evaluate line weight & try some others too. Jeff will bring chili - feel free to help add to lunch with a dish to share.

Fourteen participants, twenty or more rods, many built by the owner. If you like slow rods that perform you want to try bamboo. I tried three that pretty much cast themselves. Now I need to learn to build one of these. We'll do this again next spring - great group of enthusiasts.

I have a bamboo rod that should be finished around my anniversary in June. The builder is Walter Babb of Sweetwater, TN. I can not wait to get this rod! I spent about 3 hours at Walter's house in December casting various rods.
