  1. Joe, it is a fast action rod but the tip is softer than most. It has a lot of guts in the butt end. Dayton dam is definitely protecting the upper reaches of river from this mess. I have even seen Asian silver carp way up the small creeks I have been fishing. My buddy the other day was all excited about the size of the fish he was casting to in the creek until I pointed out that it was an Asian silver carp.

The Vermilion has Asian Carp all the way up to the Streator dam. They have not been stopped by the low head dam at the cement mill, the wildcats, or any other barrier other than the big dam at Streator. Sadly it is by far the most dominant species in many parts of parts of the river. They seem to swarm upstream each time the water rises.

    Dayton dam

Thank the army core of engineers got the Dayton dam. Sorry that is the 1i would like to see STAY for ETERNITY!

Sad they have covered so many streams.

  2. 3 shimano citica's. Oldest -20 yrs rebuilt by corens once. Newest 5 yrs. Great reels.

4 Abu Garcia 5000's. oldest 35 yrs rebuilt twice. Newest 10 yrs. Great for throwing 1 ounce spoons

or trolling with 5 ounce weight on the Illinois river.

Most $100.00 reels will last 5 years or better depending on use.

Really interested in New Lews speed reel and the tatula.

  3. Zebra Mussel? l

Yes John is a zebra mussel. Couple others fell off the wire as i pulled it out of

    the water.

I wondered how long it would take.

Bummer... maybe that's why the Fox has been so clear.

I believe they are also in one of the lakes that borders the west branch of dupe... :(

Kevin. They are in both deep quarry & bass lake. That is where the dam breach flowed into the dupage river.

    their Waders after every outing?
