Hello fellow Bassbuggers,

Just wanted to give some more details regarding the 3rd Annual Deer Hair Day.

Also, this "Deer Hair Day" will be suitable for inexperienced as well as experienced tyers. This will be very "hand's on" and fun day. Our focus will be to take the "fear and trepidation" out of handling deer hair and to make Deer Hair Bass Bugs a fun part of you fly tying repetoire.

We've established the date: Saturday, January 15th

Location: Coren's Rod & Reel Service - 6001 N. Nina Ave - Norwood Park, IL

Coren's is on the NW side of Chicago - just a bit northwest of the Kennedy Expwy and Harlem Ave.

Time: 10am to 4pm (Coren's is open from 9:30 to 5 on Saturdays)

Please note that you do not have to commit to the whole day and 'drop-in's' are welcome (Sounds like a hair cutting parlor - hmm, it might be that)

Regarding the schedule: Michael and I will focus more on tails, spinning, and stacking the deer hair on the first part of the day. 2nd part will be on shaping. You will be taking home at least 1 finished deer hair Bass Bug - hopefully more.

What to bring: (1)A good vise capable of firmly holding a Mustad 3366 1/0 hook (although, there will probably be a loaner or 2 there)- if you have a pedestal vise, bring a C Clamp to clamp your vise to the table; (2)Gelspun thread 200 denier (150 denier is ok); (3)Rite bobbin (if you have it); (4)Serrated scissors - straight and curved; (5)money for pizza at lunch time.

Note: Coren's will have Rite bobbins, GSP thread, scissors, and some WAPSI Primo deer hair available for purchase. Eric is ordering these supplies at my request, so please, support the event & Coren's by purchasing some supplies for your own deer hair tying at home.

Hope we have a good turn-out. Anytime you get Michael Taylor and I tag-team tying together, it's a hoot.
