joshw
I'm heading up to the Hurley area of Wisconsin (iron county). Does anyone have any suggestions of wadable rivers for smallmouth within an hour or two drive? The friends I'm visiting don't fish so they have no suggestions besides the Gile flowage itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Ryan Kral
Only thing I can think of that I'm familiar with is the Hayward area rivers. I've floated the Chippewa, Flambeau, and Namekagon. I know these rivers are better from a boat, but if you do some research might find some info. The upper Nam is a shallower section, with a mix of trout and smallie waters that people wade. The Hayward fly fishing company is a great place to call for some info. They are a guide shop, so don't pry to much, but very friendly owners. joshw
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm looking for something closer than the Hayward area. I can always poke into the UP of Michigan and look at the black river or something along those lines.
Ryan Kral
Manitowish River is an under rated smallmouth and muskie fishery, the local guides are pretty good at keeping it on the DL! Ryan
