Questions about the Kishwaukee/Apple River

I am a Missouri Smallmouth Alliance member and I am in Loves Park for Thanksgiving staying with the in-laws till Sunday. I am planning on fishing the next three days trying the forest preserves and thinking of Apple River for a day. Any suggestions of any spots better than others this time of year? I fly fish and appreciate any information. Thanks for the opportunity to ask this question on your forum. TJ Branson
