  1. Oh how many sunk'n beer bottles and cans have I picked off the bottom of the Dupe? A freak'n lot thats for sure, it must be easier to sink em than pack the stuff out!!!

I often think the same thing about the Dupe. I mentioned it to a friend and he said he thinks the people dump the cans because most of them are underage kids and they don't want to get caught with the empties. I guess it's enough to risk getting caught with the full ones. Either way it does really piss me off to see all those cans and bottles. I bet I could fill my 17' canoe in one float.
  2. Much of the Kank is wade-able, but like any river that you are not familiar with, procede with caution. It's a big river with some big volume. Most areas by the park are knee to waist deep. Rock Creek is an easy wade...to a point then it gets a little tough with the rock walls and faster water. With the low water we have now, it's a good time to explore. BTW there is a ISA event there this Sunday the 17th. Oh yea, if you like carp, Rock Creek is full of them.

  3. Nice yak, I am putting together a Pelican on the cheap as well. $199 for a Apex 100 at Meijer and a few bucks for some rod holders. After the Kish outing and seeing how well these guys can move in a yak, I knew I needed one. I have my 17' canoe on that trip and it was fine with myself and ericg in it, but alone it is just too big. I don't know if I would even know the difference between my budget yak and a more costly one at this point in time.

  4. Cool, I like the wet kind of water much better than the dry kind. ericg has taken my open seat, it will be nice to have another person in the boat. Looking forward to meeting everyone. What is the name of this fine dining establishment so I can put it in the GPS.

    Thanks for all the info

    Jon

  5. I am hoping to make this. I will be bringing a 17 canoe and have room for one more person. Couple questions. It's been awhile since I have done much river canoeing, what kind of water can I expect (I know there are no real rapids)? I'll have a drag chain rigged, will I find it useful on this stretch? How deep is this stretch? (I know rainfall will impact this). Will we be stopping and wading or is all the fishing going to be from the boats? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to be prepared.
