  1. I'm looking to get into fishing the faster current this coming season. And not just on top, suspended, or free rolling, but on the bottom bolder bouncing! I found last year that this was failry productive. Almost as much so as seams, eddies, and slack water. I also caught some walleye doing this which was fun. I primarily just used a 1/2-3/4 ounce football jig tipped with various craw imitations. I also used a shaky head w/worm which is one of my favorite LM baits. Problem is I lost probably 10$ or more a day to snags I couldn't always retrieve. My question is: Is there a better setup/retrieve that I could use to help me not lose so many lures? Thanks

  2. I have a pair of Hodgman mfg code 205 waders I got for Christmas 12 years ago. They've actually probably only seen 3 or 4 good solid years of use but they have no leaks or pinholes. It's a 90-10 blend of Neoprene-Nylon. They are warm in the summer but to tell you the truth, if it's over 85 out I don't wear waders anyhow. The boots are part of the waders and non-detachable (no problems with traction). A big key in preventing leaks and pinholes is storage. I reccomend that they are kept hanging up at all times when not in use and never folded or tossed on the ground for long. You have a lot of great replies above, this is just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

  3. I agree with Eric. Also just to be safe, I bet on Pearl/white most of the time. I figure that the belly of almost every fish in our region (and most regions for that matter) is some shade of white or silver with possibly a bit of yellow/orange. This would also cover most frogs. Black has also worked for me, esspecialy buzzbaits, but that's a reaction bait anyhow.

  4. Hey guys, I'm looking for a way to take an extra rod/reel with me on wades. I was thinking of a strap or harness that would hold it across your back like quiver of arrows. Does anyone else do this or maybe have a DIY blueprint idea?

  5. Monday started out very sad. Got a call from my wife saying that we had sold the boat. Not selling the canoe. I held a very sentimental attachment to that boat for many reasons. But it was just becoming too much work and costly to keep it running. We also didn't get what it was worth which I expected. On the other hand, once I sold it I took the money and bought myself a new baitcasting reel and spinning rod that I've needed to finish combos. I bought a couple of lures that are kind of expensive and have never been able to justify buying. I took the family to a nice dinner which we havn't done in a while, then gave the wife some cash for new clothes (mega brownie points). I also fixed some little things around the house. I miss the boat, but some of the best memories of my life are in that boat and are burned forever in my mind. I look forward to giving my kids in the future a boat that they can feel that same way about someday. Thanks grandpa for everything you did for me. Tight lines and may you rest in peace.

  6. Hey guys, just figured I'd ask for some tips. I'm trying to find a good campground to take my family to this summer. Fishing is number 2 priority, fun for the kids is number 1 (they can have fun fishing :D ). Travel is Lake of the Ozarks/Kentucky lake for maximum distance. That's kind of what we're thinking. Any good experiences are appreciated.
