troy Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Hey all, I joined the ISA this spring in hopes of going on some outings, meeting some new people, and catching my first Iowa/Illinois smallmouth, but so far the local outings have always conflicted with my (or my wife's) schedule. Any recommendations for streams to try within an hour or two of the Quad Cities (preferably on Iowa side, but open to Illinois also)? I don't want to steal your favorite holes, but streams/ public access points should be enough to get me started. I keep reading about you guys catching great fish this fall, and I want to get in on the action! Quote
Andy C Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Cedar and Iowa rivers on the Iowa side, and I would check the tributaries of those streams if they are rocky with good habitat and flow. Green river and Henderson Creeks on the Illinois side. Some really good streams if you drive north a ways from the cities. Quote
