david votaw Posted June 29, 2011 Report Share Posted June 29, 2011 Greetings Gents. I'll be in Springfield 7/14-17 taking the wife to a convention, so I get 2 days of fishing while she's busy. I'd like to wade a creek for smallies, no problem to travel a few miles to fish as I routinely drive 75 mi from Cincinnati to fish my creeks and rivers. Any general guidance would be enormously appreciated; I'll figure the rest out once I get to the river! Thx again. Jonn Graham Posted June 30, 2011 Report Share Posted June 30, 2011 Not much right around Springfield. Springfield is just South of the smallmouth cut-off in IL. Your closest stream might be the Mackinaw, which is about 90 minutes from Springfield. You may get some other responses from guys who have some creeks that I don't know about.
