Dan Grigas of the DuPage Forest Preserve District has again asked for our help at the trout fishing for kids event. While it is not smallmouth centered it does get kids outdoors and exposed to fishing.
Trout Fishing for Kids
Location: Wood Dale Grove
Saturday, March 26, 2016
8 a.m. – Noon Introduce your young anglers to trout fishing at this preseason special event that's just for them. Bait provided. Ages 15 and under with an adult. Free. Registration not required. Questions? Call (630) 933-7668.

 

We will meet at the Sunmist restaurant in Addison at 7:00am for breakfast and then head over to Wood Dale Grove, the weather forecast for next Saturday looks to be much more comfortable than it has in past years.

Count me in. Be nice if we did get good weather for a change. At least the ice will be out on the lake. Be sure to let Norm P. know. He likes working this event and helping the kids rig up their rods properly for trout fishing. See you at Sunmist on Saturday at 7 a.m.

Thank you for coordinating the ISA's participation in this event with Dan Grigas of DuPage Forest Preserve. The weather on Saturday was probably the best since this event began several years ago. It's always good to see the kids fishing with their families and hauling back a stringer of trout. Lots of smiles on those faces, including those of the volunteers.

This was by far the best weather we have had for this event yet. As Norm Perkins noted the participants have been getting better at this every year also and seem to be a lot more efficient at catching trout.
