Time for the members Cast & Compare at Hidden Lake Forest Preserve RTE 53 & RTE 56 in Glen Ellyn. Bring one or more of your new or favorite smallie rods to compare to others. This time Orvis will provide some of their new Access mid priced line of rods to try out. This is a great chance to try other lenghts, weights & actions to see what you like. We will meet by the lot in the northeast corner till lunch. Weather permitting I will grill or we can go someplace close inside. If you are new to fly fishing come out & learn!

    UPDATE 10/21/10

Bring your spin or baitcast gear as well - by next year we will have TFO bring the new Gary Loomis designed spin & casting gear out.

This Saturday - Orvis will have 6 & 7 wt. rods brought by Lee Robinson Fishing Manager at Orvis Chicago.
In addition Joseph Myers of One More Cast is bringing two new rods not yet on the market.
From St. Croix designed by Kelly Gallop the 7 weight Bank Robber is made to cast large weighted streamers.
From Temple Forks the 6weight BVK part of a new line designed with input from Lefty Kreh, Flip Pallop & the designers at TFO. Both these rods use the new nano silica epoxy that allows lighter but much tougher rods.
Also I will have a range of Rio Clouser & Outbound lines, Airflo 40+ floating 7wt., & Rio's new Smallmouth line floating 7 wt. - Bring your 6 through 8 wt. rods for some sampling.
Thanks to both Lee & Joseph - We'll see you at Hidden Lake this Saturday!

Due to illness, Dan Kane will NOT be able to meet us at the job site this weekend. It will happen on the 1st or 3rd weekend of November. I'll keep you posted.

Dan Kane of the Boone Co. Conservation District will be meeting any interested ISA members at the site of their ISA funded stream barb project. He's very excited and grateful for our support, and wants to keep the membership in the loop as to how their money is spent. The project should take place in early to mid November, and he wants us to see the "before" condition at the site. He will explain how it got this way, and what will be done to fix the problem. Some barbs were installed this summer just downstream of our site, so we can get a preview, too.

He's agreed to do it on the weekend so as many members as possible can make it, so let's have a good showing! We will be meeting Dan at the Distillery Road Park entrance at 9:00, but I'm thinking breakfast at Ned's on State St/US20 between Rockford and Belvidere should come first, say 7:30 a.m. Fishing in the park area afterwards is NOT an option, as it will officially be closed to the public for bow hunting. That doesn't mean you can't bring the waders and head into Cherry Valley or Belvidere. Please let me know if you'll be joining us!

PS I need a volunteer to take plenty of "before" pics.
