I've been tying a ton of streamers lately. I have not been able to test them yet. But I hope they will work. Here is a list of flies I've been tying, pollys pride, one eye poacher variants, clousers, slump busters, bucktail streamers, and feather wing streamers. These flies should work well out east for trout. Some one of the flies was the little brown trout. I actually took a class on bucktail streamers from fly masters of Indiana right before covid . Ian Anderson of dressed iorns on you tube ( link below) . Ian and I had a one on one class. I was the only guy to show up. It was a load of fun and learned a ton.

I use a spinning rod and reel in a 5:3:1 I only use it every now and then not sure the exact gear ratio. that's on my reels. I also fly fish and tie my own jigs and flies. I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea but try a bobber maybe watch it drift and re cast every so often. I tie 1/32 oz to 1/4 oz but fishing with out a bobber I use 1/4 oz and 1/8 oz but with a bobber I use 1/8 oz on down to 1/32 oz. I agree with a slower reel and presantion is better in the fall and winter months. Also depth of water is important . I have not found a need for a faster reel ratio with that said for bass like strippers, white bass and smallmouth and largemouth bas sometimes a faster gear reel mite be better. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and comments. I fly fished for a small mouth on the fly before but that particular day was the best day so far. I practice catch and release for small and large mouths mainly. I have kept only one white bass in the macaw river here in Central Illinois where I live. Here are some bigger slump buster I just tied up for next spring.

Hello everyone I want to share this last memorial day during the summer I went to a creek in Central Illinois and finally caught small mouth on the fly. Caught 10 total. All on a small size 8 slump buster with olive pine squirrel as the tail and wing. I used a cone to get it down deep. The small mouth can be 12 inches to 15 probably max size. I put them all back. What a day on the water. Just felt I should share.

Cool fly I hope you caght loads of bass on that. So is the fly all synthetic your useing? Or are there any natural materials in the fly its self?

Thouse flies looks simple and effective. Am sure you will catch with them. Hope they work out for.
