Rich,
Could/would you start a new one highlighting this flash shad?
-
Chuck, could you bring this stuff to your office tomorrow so I can see it too?

What time and where inside the park are we meeting?

I make my own furled leaders and have for close to 15 years.
I've tried everything imaginable...Ono , flouro super lines , fly tying thread ( 5 brands ). They all work once you understand how to build one with each. For example super lines cannot handle a much twist as tying thread they get too stiff or rigid. Flouro is horrible for topwater presentations, each have attributes that are fun to play with. I have used mine on everything up to 30 lb stripers off cape cod down to tiny trout.
I did not like the recipes online, I have adjusted my leaders for my own casting stroke and 'standard' fishing conditions. I would recommend the same, experiment

Great discussion everyone.
A) the haze created by alcohol is not visible when underwater, they all appear clear once underwater.
clear nail polish works well on loon, CCg, and my fav, tuffleye.
C) ccg and tuffleye need the appropriate lights, not sure about loon. With the proper lights they cure in 5-10 seconds, the wrong light just takes longer, it feels like forever but it is probably only 20-30-40 seconds.
D) the nail polish will yellow or brown over time. I know tuffleye sells a nail polish like visiting that doesn't, not sure about others.
Let me know if I can offer any other insights

Great, thank you for letting me know. Is there USGS Gauge one can use to measure the water flow or height?

Will the recent rains make the river high, or muddy?

Right in Apple River Canyon State Park is good. go upstream on the largest stream or head downstream on the main stem. It's your choice. I was there yesterday and the fishing was great.

Thanks for your help. I have been trying the cyanoacrylate glues and can't get thm to hold worth a darn. I've tried the epoxy and it works well. I don't like how it browns over time... I know I am being super picky, but there must be a third option... I'll try goop

To help with your hook ups, use a shorter shank hook. Fish eat the heads of things first normally, you want your hook up there too. Not a big fan of mustar hooks, but I still use the 3366 for this particular pattern...

Hey everyone,
Having trouble keeping my eyes on this fly... What glues do you all recommend for this?
Thank you,

I wanted to thank everyone for the warm reception the other night at Tom's restaurant.
Hope we can all get together some this year and fish together.
A special thanks to Cory for continuing to let me know about the events...
