Several years ago one of my co-workers was fishing in Faries Park pond in Decatur(before ADM took it over) and caught a 16 inch rainbow. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself. He came up to the golf course and showed all of us before he took it home. Hit a small crankbait if I remember correctly.

No I have not joined ISA. I just discovered this group in the last week.

No I've never gotten into fly fishing. With my luck I'd be up in the trees every time I trying to cast.

Hello everyone. I just joined the ISA forums this week. I found this website by searching smallmouth bass techniques for Illinois. I had no idea there was a club devoted specifically for smallmouth in Illinois.
I've only recently discovered smallmouth in the rivers and streams around me, but I've had a blast catching them. I look forward to discussing smallies with everyone.

So far it sounds like ISA is a very nice group. Also being an avid muskie fisherman I strongly believe in CPR, so I have no problem releasing all the fish I catch. It's actually kind of funny because I'm driving my oldest brother nuts by not telling where and how I'm catching my smallmouth. He's more of a catch and eat kind of person and I don't want him cleaning out my holes. The creeks and rivers by me don't have a huge population of smallmouth and I'm afraid he'd put a big dent in the population.
