  1. They’re both pretty good. Biggest thing to consider is day and time of day. Cherry Valley put-in sees the most recreational traffic, although the Kish put-in does see an up tick in traffic from college students utilizing Larson’s Landing in New Milford. Either way an early start (before 10am) will keep you in front of most of the traffic. If you’re going on a week day then you probably won’t see anyone anywhere.
  2. Probably put-in at Cherry Valley canoe launch and take-out at Kishwaukee River FP. or Put-in at Kishwaukee River FP and take out at Atwood Park, would be your best two options. https://duckdodge62.wixsite.com/tdsmh/kish-stretches
  3. That’s a good excuse to get back up there. Hell, might as well make a weekend of it. Smart man. 😁
  4. We should have a “National Kick A Weather Person In The Buttocks Day”, and I, Terry Dodge, nominate the last Saturday of June, to be that day. I’m There we’re 3 of us on the Wade today on the Kishwaukee River. Rain started off light and just kept on increasing as the day went on. We stuck it out for about 3 1/2 hours and brought nothing to hand. I did enjoy showing Bart and Spencer some good areas, well, I guess good fishy looking areas. Ha! We took what Mother Nature thru at as and still managed to enjoy ourselves. No fish brought to hand. We had a few that were hitting short but no takers. Bart and Spencer were tossing flies and I stuck to the spin gear tossing Tubs, Ned’s, and even a top water just for the fun of it. I will say that fishing in the rain kind of made me feel like I was 12 again. Maybe next time.
  5. Ben and I noticed this bubble line floating down the middle of the river. Makes me wonder if there’s some kind of bloom going on? (photo by Ben K)
  6. Well done! Thanks to all who helped out. Thanks for the report, Mike!
  7. But what about trading the over abundance of Bernat Blanket Yarn in school bus yellow? That is what this was all about. 😁
  8. It sure was great to see everyone at the Extravaganza! Been a long time since I’ve heard such good smallmouth talk. Big thanks to Allen, Bart, and John for their hard work. Congrats to all raffle and silent auction winners! Can’t wait to see who picked the only rod that catches fish. 😁 You had to be there.
  9. Ha! Sounds like some of my kin. Have you ever seen the movie Blood Hook? Slasher type B-movie that takes place in Hayward WI. about a musky tournament. Turns out Wisconsinites do not like Illinoisans. I like the way the movie portrays both stereotypes on both sides of the IL. WI boarder. Check it out. Hilarious. I just might pick up a 30 pack of Busch Lite and watch it again tonight.Full movie on Tubi and YouTube.
  10. We’ll meet at Blackhawk Springs FP off Perryville Rd. @ 8:00am. Both north and south branches available for wading.
  11. If weather and levels allow we’ll be meeting at Blackhawk Springs off Perryville Rd. If necessary we’ll split into groups and go from there. We’ll shoot for 8am. as a meet time. More info to come as the date draws nearer. Dropped pin https://goo.gl/maps/RQwti12dPiydsf7W7
  12. Terry Rig: Buy a little bag of 1 oz. Egg shaped sinkers. Cut yourself off about a 24” section of monofilament fishing line. Tie a 1 oz. Sinker to each end of the monofilament line. Wad it up and stick it in a pocket in your fishing vest.. When being harassed by drone, toss the Terry Rig straight up into the sky. As the rig comes down it will wrap around anything in it’s path brining it down to the ground or splashing in the water. Works on bats. Good luck! Could mean trouble though as I have read that drones have airspace rights.

  17. I think I messed up on a couple dates but not too bad I guess… https://dewittdailynews.com/community/centralillinoisoutdoors
  18. Ha! Sorry, I forgot this was a post from a Facebook group. My bad. We should still try to get a couple signs up there. Maybe those sign destroying jerkwads have grown up and moved on to billboards. Sounds like it’s worth a shot again.
  19. Sounds like more yellow signs need to go up in the area for sure. Last time a sign was up was anywhere from a few years to several years ago. While you plan your fight to close the creek to anglers during the spawn season, a few signs put up, here and there, will help inform all the NEW anglers we have.
  20. Sorry I guess I ask since the last time I bought one was back in 2007. Since then I’ve been issued the Disable Vet license thru the VA. I think now that I’m legally blind all I need to do is show my State ID. Seems like last time I bought, it was $13.25. I’ll guess it’s $15 now.
