  1. Great information Mike, The next time I see you I will have a map and you can give me some pointers thanks.
  2. Thanks guys for the all of the information. Looks like I have to buy a kayak now for the Dup.
  3. Thanks for the information Tim. Sure you can go with me and I would appreciate all of the information that you would give me on the trip. It won't be until September when I go out since I am real busy with work, school, and kids. I also would like to get some extra parts. Just in case.
  4. I just bought a 15' jon boat with a 9.9 hp outboard. I was wondering if it would be a good boat to go on the Dupe, or Kankakee with since I have never been to these two rivers. Any information would be appreciated.
  5. Brian I fished there on July 2 and was using black and then tried a light brown color wooly with no sucess. Had to use plastics and lande 4 sm largest being 18". I might try tying a few with your color pattern and try it. If you want to hook up pm me and let me know. I fish there a lot. I also hit several creeks in McLean county.
  6. What's your preference (Lakes or Rivers) and any thoughts on why?
  7. At last nights central Illinois meeting John was kind enough to share a couple of books about smallmouth bass and fly fishing. It got me thinking that with winter soon upon us that a few of us (not brave enough to go out in the winter to fish) might share a few of our favorite magazines or books to read in the winter. My 3 favorite magazines are: In-Fisherman Bass Masters North American Fishing club magazine. Book: Smallmouth Bass: an In-Fisherman handbook of strategies.
  8. Looks good Jonn. Sure would like to see some of the creations that you made this year Friday night. It would be nice to see them in person.
  9. We should have a few meetings in Central IL. and have some members get together for some fly tying sessions. I know I would like to learn.
  10. Mike, where would the meetings take place?
  11. Great work. Now you need to open a website and sell them online..> I would be your first customer...
  12. Don I have only been a member since the begining of summer and have not had the pleasure to meet you. But if everything that I have read from the post are true I am sure that you will do a terrific job. Rich I also believe that you will do a great service in your new role and wish you the best of luck. I look forward to meeting both of you in the future and hope it will be on the river fishing.
  13. Don't be discouraged and think we have to stand by and take it. I for one am going to write the Governor's office and my state represenative and senetor. If we all take a stand and do something things can change for the better. However, if we do nothing then we all get what is coming. I challenge all members to do something.
  14. Mark I usually fish for largemouth in lakes and ponds around central Illinois. I do pretty good and I use a lot of soft baits, jigs and spinner baits. I guess you would classify me as fair. Now I want to get into smallmouth fishing in some of the local creeks and rivers in central to northeastern Illinois. Mostly the Mackinaw River and Kickapoo creek since it is close by where I live. But I also want to try the Kankakee and the Fox Rivers. I have never fished for smallmouth before. I use a medium action shimano spinning rod and reel. I hope that I answered everything.
  15. Thanks for all of the information. Yes Jim I was planning on using a soft tackle bag with a couple of boxes to throw in and then sling it over my shoulder. Mike I use a spinning reel medium action. However, I have hip waders that I use when I go to MO. will they do here or should I use chest waders. You guys are great. I should have joined a long time ago. Thanks again for the information.
  16. I'm looking to set up a tackle box strictly for smallmouths and I was looking for any suggestions on lures to add. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am looking to do mostly river fishing (wading).
  17. I am new to fly fishing for smallmouths. Can anyone inform me of creeks and or rivers in McLean County are that I can try my luck in.
