  1. Anything posted here with date and info for 2019 Blowout? Gregg
  2. Ed, Might be time to move on. Gregg
  3. I could do, and would do, Saturdays in March except for the 25th. Also could do weekday evenings except for Mondays and some Tuesdays. Gregg
  4. Scott, I can come by Friday afternoon for a couple of hours to give you and John a break if that would be helpful. Gregg
  5. I would be interested if ISA does it again. Otherwise, I'll go visit him. Gregg
  6. Thanks for the input. I want to build a spinning rod. I think "economize" on the first one is probably good advice. I think I'll do that. Gregg
  7. Every winter I seem to get obsessed with something while waiting for spring. This year I think I would like to build one or more rods. I've looked at the kits on Mudhole.com, but am a little concerned about just watching a video and diving in for fear of having an expensive but poorly made rod. Anybody doing this? Anybody know someone that might not mind helping? I probably would be happy to pay for a lessen. Advise me. Gregg
  8. A hoist to store the kayak at ceiling level in the garage. Now I need to buy or borrow a ladder tall enough to get me up there to install it. When installed, I can stop banging the kayak with my car door. Gregg
  9. Sweet yak. Sweet storage solution.
  10. I agree with those that have expressed appreciation for the effort. Gregg
  11. I agree with Norm that the roundtable was well received. The speaker he could not remember was Kevin Dells (I believe) representing the Kish guys. Gregg
  12. I love the boa system. No more struggling to get boots on or off. AND no more retying the laces every 5 minutes. Gregg
  13. Ditto. Nice guy, and hard worker. I have memory seared in my brain of Rich operating a chain saw while drifting in a jon boat to remove logjam on the Kish. Gregg
  14. I would vote no because I want someone to show judgment about where money is spent. We do need road money. We do not need to have road money and no money for anything else.
  15. Any of you that are good at reading and understanding water level gauges know if the flooding in Iowa has effected the Apple River? I have a day off Friday and wonder if it would be worth the trip out. Flooded? Gregg
  16. Theory-The turtles might stir groceries up from the bottom. Gregg
  17. I am trying to picture where the pea gravel goes that it will stay. Do you have pics?
  18. Condolences Terry. Paul-Gifted program for Isaac? He must get it from his mother (just kidding). Gregg
  19. Enlightening video. I would have to say, in my one experience I got even less water in my waders than he did. Gregg
  20. Terry, Paddling pants are like waders without feet. You can try to go waterproof on the feet or not, depending on the weather and your preference. I asked because I don't like being wet or cold, and often wear waist high waders in my kayak. I am a little concerned that this could be a drowning hazard if dumped. They also tend to hold air pockets, which can be uncomfortable. I did take a dramatic spill one time with chest waders (with a waist belt). Even though I was in the water a minute or two, I was dry. No water got in, but it got me thinking. Gregg
  21. Waders or Paddling pants for kayak fishing. Discuss.
  22. What are the requirements for Club Brutus? 20 inches? Illinois? Gregg
  23. Steve (Paddlin' Man) Kollmann died on 12/23. He had been suffering from ALS-Lou Gehrig's Disease. I did not know Steve well, but enjoyed getting to know him at Blowouts-not more than 3 or 4 years ago. He talked a lot about fishing more often in retirement. If there is a message to take from this I know you can figure out what it is. Gregg
