Fishing songs!?

All right guys, little challenge here! I have a love of fishing, especially fly fishing, but like everyone here, more importantly just getting some fresh air and enjoying the water and challenge. I am also a musician, not by trade, just hobby. I have a few fishing trips planned for this year, besides my regular home water fishing. I would like to put together some good fishing/road trip songs to help get me in the mood, not that I need any help getting in the mood to fish! If you guys can help, maybe we'll see the first ISA album this year, next thing you know, we're buying copyrights, and all the ISA members are Millionares! Or maybe thats just fishermans hope! Any songs? Ryan

I too have a small collection of fishing songs. Some of my favorites are "Great American Fisherman" (it's the theme to Roland Martin's show), Brad Paisley's "I'm going to miss her", and my top pick, "Gone Fishing" by Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby.

A group out of Wisconsin, called Shad Rapp, has some CDs out that are mostly hunting, fishing, and drinking related. They're on Slimy Pike Productions, and they are a hoot. I have one CD called," Double Shot" that has all the tunes from their first two CDs. Great stuff ! Worlds Greatest Fishing Band, "Papa Was A Fishin' Man" 4 CD set, has one entire CD devoted to fly fishing. My favorite however is," When Tammy Does The Shimmy At The Fish Fry". Don Williams, "Currents" CD is a nice easy flowing set of songs with one that's called, "Catfish Bates" that is quite good. I have some good stuff that I'll have to look up to find the artists for. I'll post them later. One is a great bass fishing tune.

Brad Paisley's "Catch All The Fish" from the"American Saturday Night" CD is a great tune."Water", is also on this CD."Five Pound Bass", by Robert Earl Keen,Jr. is quite good. I like the Dirt Band's "Fishin' In The Dark". You would have to include the theme song to the Andy Griffith Show. I think it's called " The Fishin' Hole".

If you're into trout fishing, there is a group of guys, Artie Traum, Chris Shaw & Tom Akstens, that have an album titled Big Trout Radio: Songs About Fishing that I came across that I like a lot. Anglin' Wayne and the Trollers have some good tunes, and a guy I came accross name David Walburn has a really nice sound to his blend of fishing/outdoor songs. I have a playlist of about 160 "Fishing Tunes" songs on my iPod that is a combination of songs specifically about fishing and some really good modern Bluegrass.

I have a CD called "My Bait Died" by the Total Fishheads "An assortment of original fishing songs by total fishheads." The Total Fishheads happens to be Larry Dahlberg and David Swanson. Larry is credited with lead guitar and lyrics.

I saw a a clip on "Hunt for Big Fish" of one of the songs from that album, but I thought it was just a spoof. Is it worth buying the disc?

That's a hard question to answer. Here's a sample.

Do you know where to buy a copy? How much is it?

I'm gonna have to say that it's not really the type of music I want to hear on my way to or way home from a day or week of fishing if it all sounds like that.

Got them. Thanks

If you love flyfishing and have ever fished Michigan waters than you might like a CD I picked up many years ago called "River Songs". I think it was by Charlie Weaver (river guide from Michigan) and another local from Michigan. It's a collection of songs accompanied by either banjo or guitar or both.

I'll Look for it. Thanks. I have not fished Michigan waters yet, but it's on the "to do" list.

Here is Bucky Halker's "Fish on a Line" Shakespeare and Buddha in a song about fishing. That's me on the bass----uh, bass guitar.

This may sound goofy but I like to listen to this song by Rush before spending a day chasing the smallies.

This would be neat music to put a bunch of picture to in a fast action type video.

You can almost hear when to set the hook and when the smallie takes to air.
