dan held Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 "Alone in the Wilderness" is the story of Dick Proenneke living in the Alaska wilderness. Dick filmed his adventures so he could show his relatives in the lower 48 states what life was like in Alaska, building his cabin, hunting for food and exploring the area. Bob Swerer has taken the best footage from Dick's films and he has created 3 videos about Dick, "Alone in the Wilderness", "Alaska, Silence and Solitude" and "The Frozen North". All of these can be found on you tube. They are amazing videos and unbelievable that a man at 51 can go to Alaska with nothing more than a canoe, axe, and a gun and live there for about 30 years.. No maps, gps, cell phones, ect... very cool videos. Alone in the Wilderness is by far the best series in my opinion. There are 6 parts to each series.. The link is as follows. If by chance it doesn't work just search Dick Proenneke on you tube.. Tight Lines Dan Quote
Paul Chausse Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Great series. Thanks for sharing. Quote
Kev-mo Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 I've caught parts of this on PBS several times. It's pretty amazing what can be accomplished with two hands, some basic tools, a lot of hard work and the knowledge to make it all come together. Quote
JimR Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVABLE. That guy is the true meaning of badass. Kinda like Tom Brown. Quote
