Mike Clifford
My favorite from this review is the new Owner weighted twist-lock. Finally a decent hook to replace those dreadful Mister Twister weighted versions that are about as sharp as a crochet hook. Many more cool new products in the website below! TWIST ‘N FISH Sometimes it’s the seemingly small things that produce big results. Take two hook treatments from Owner. First is the Weighted Twistlok for soft plastics like Slug-Gos. A centering pin in the middle of the screw spring means you’ll rig your lure dead-on all the time. (A slightly side- skewed bait just won’t run right.) And then you have a pre-weighted shank—1-1/16 oz. on 3/0 hooks, 1/8 oz. on 4/0 and 5/0 hooks. No separate weight needed. The now weedless rig is great for skipping or pitching to deep cover. BrianA
MR MIKE...... It's not that bad now is it.......... The Mister Twister Weighted Keeper is a real nice design, you just need to drag it across a hook sharpener about 2 dozen times to make it sharp, even more so now that their made in CHINA! I still like the design, especially for craws, grubs, and Hellgrammites That doesn't make them all that bad, now you've actually got a hook point about as thick as the head of a pin!! I like the Owner, there are also others made that are marketed thru Bass Pro Shops *Mustad Ultra Point Power Lock Plus *Daichi Bleeding Bait Hooks w/ the clip weight *K&E or K&K worm hooks The Mustad is a wide-gap, the other two are more suited for slender baits Nice Post - the hook/sharp quality has always been suspect on the MR TWISTERS. Mike Clifford
Actually, the Falcon Lures Bait Jerker (made by Gamakatsu) is a fine hook in itself. BUT- it has no barbed rod. Does MT have some sort of patent on that thing or what?? As for the MT keepers- I still need to bend the hook shank to get it just right...after sharpening. Too much work for a hook out of the package. How about those new Rat'l Traps in the link above? Those look mighty interesting as well. jude
That "Twist n Fish" looks nice, but six bucks for four seems a little steep. I use the MT weighted keeper a lot, and I'm always on the lookout for similar hooks. The MT hooks rust if the humidity gets above 50%. Mike Clifford
Oh, you have the Falcon hooks, Ken? Not everybody carries them. Good to know.
kend
Oh, you have the Falcon hooks, Ken? Not everybody carries them. Good to know. The hooks are manufactured by "Gamakatsu", marketed by Falcon, with an affixed weight. Quite popular, with anglers in the know.

Gamakatsu's thin wire EWG hook, is ideally suited for the light-line angler. Added weight can be affixed to the thin wire hooks, by adding adhesive backed foil tape, to the hook shank. The slower falling Senko or Kut-tail worm results in more tail waving enticing action. It appears more akin to a real bait fish slowing decending/swimming downward, maintaining its natural horizontal appearance. Storms Suspend Strips are also well suited for this application/presentation.
