gordon p
I was able to help with the shocking of Cedar Creek, a tributary of the Pecatonica, this Thursday for a couple of hours. Met the esteemed Tim Smith. We manned the large dip nets and collected the stunned fish behind the shocking rods carried upstream by the gents from the IDNR. Gathered a fair quantity of suckers, shiners, creek chubs, dace, stonerollers and a couple of other species I can't remember. No smallmouth--but Cedar Creek was pretty. Here are some photos taken with the phone camera. GP
jude
Thanks for helping out, Gordon! "....the esteemed Tim Smith." I wonder if he's related to our Tim Smith?
Tim Smith
Thanks for helping out, Gordon! "....the esteemed Tim Smith." I wonder if he's related to our Tim Smith? I hear that esteemed Tim Smith guy is a real SOB. Here are some of the fish we collected. The 2nd stream we sampled was an interesting clay and rip-rapped affair in a corn field. Still no smallmouth but... ...we did find a wild-hatched brown trout. It was great to meet Gordon and fraternize a bit with the IDNR stream crews. Mike Clifford
Excellent job by all involved! This will certainly be added to our list of accomplishments at year's end, and then some. Thanks!
jude
A wild hatched brown trout!?! Are you serious? How cool! I'm guessing that a trout was quite unexpected?
Tim Smith
A wild hatched brown trout!?! Are you serious? How cool! I'm guessing that a trout was quite unexpected? A trout would have been surprising. A wild-hatched trout was very surprising...and unwanted. The IDNR didn't put it there.
