bill sheridan
2,629 acres has been purchesed in LaSalle County by the state. It is most of the land that was owned by the old Lone Star Cement Co. The land is now Buzzi Unicem. This land is on both sides of The Vermillion River and on the west edge of Matthiessen Park. This area includes Wildcat Rapids and Bailey Falls along with several ponds. It also includes the old pit along Rt 71 that is across the river from Ogesby. Joe R
Wow. Rare good news in Illinois it's great in the dismal financial state that they have funds to do so. At some point it would be good to see the boundaries on a map
mannym
I just mentioned to my wife that they need to expand the parks to fit everyone that comes down every weekend. Just need to clean up the mess and we should have lots more room to spread out.
