I'm sorry, but these are supposed to be "Man Laws". If my wife was making a list, this would be on it. But Man Laws, no way.

You guys are killing me.

I got to agree, during 8 hour + wades a trip to the woods is the second best thing in life. It got to the point this year, I had to go fishing to have a bowell movement.

Rule # 47 No fish shall be reported as a 5 pounder unless the scale is pulled down to at least 3 pounds. All experienced fisherman know that scales sold for fish weighing are notoriously inaccurate due to extreme variations in jostleing in autos and boats, plus temperature and humidity fluctuations. We must vigoursly enforce this rule to keep utmost integrity in our sport.

Rule # 48 Fish shall be reeled in at least half way to the angler to be counted as a catch.

Rule # 49 Advanced anglers can count as a catch all strikes and bumps as they have the required experience to know the size of the fish from any interaction. This requires at least 10 years of advanced angling, no exceptions as we must maintain honesty in our reports.

Amendment to Law #48...

A bass that is lipped and controlled in possession by an angler shall be counted as a catch. A hooked bass that is merely seen, jumps off, comes 'unbuttoned' or simply touched before it gets away is a loss. You blew it! You have to control the fish in your possession, i.e., lipping, unhooking, photographing, and releasing at your own will.

What if you didn't land it but it was really big? Can we add 2" and 2 pounds or do we refrain from reporting our blow?

Til these came along, I thought the thread was dead. These are the best of all. I move that these be promoted to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd on the list.

All in favor!

If you have to ask, you are not a man. That is the prime assumption. :D

Are we gonna have a <u>Man Law</u> card ready for next year's Blowout? You know.... kind'a like the yellow contact cards? <img src="http://illinoissmallmouthalliance.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

I hate to bring back such an old post but something happened to me today that jogged a memory. I was walking in downtown Rockford on my way to an appointment when I was approached by a man. He extended out his hand and said please take one of these as he handed me a card. I looked at the card and this is what I saw:

ROCKFORDECOPY_LDAPMAIL_06212011-124422.pdf

Jim Kast your quaestion has been answered. Man Cards are now in full production. Now we just need to get our man laws printed on the back. Four punches and your man card is revoked.

Why don't someone just right an article mentioning the rules of the man card, design a card and then print the article and card on the inside

of the back cover of the Bronzeback Bulletin?

If this is ever done please be sure to add the dash guidelines around the card. I'm not real good with scissors and without them I'll be all over the place.

And yet...I laughed when I read that :P

Close to 25,000 views of this goofy thread. Now that's funny!

25,000 is disgusting. The men of the square table were overserved middleaged guys played by over the hill actors and athletes. Who would ever want to associate with a group like that?

ME!

QUOTE (Eric @ Nov 9 2006, 11:14 AM) Law # 22:

A bass that has been hooked, reeled in, lipped, and released is considered a CATCH. Follows, jump offs, long distance releases, and touches do not count and NOBODY CARES.

Law # 23:

Under no circumstances shall a net be used on a bass. Lipping a bass to confirm the catch is part of the sport of bass fishing. This law applies to all aspects of bass fishing -- even when fishing from a boat. If you're scared to lip a bass due to the possibility of being hooked, stay home and play with your Barbies.

MAN LAW

I am here to ask the "Men Of The Square Table" for a pass on Law #23.

I only have one eye (the right eye) due to the loss of my left eye to glacoma. My depth preception is a tad-bit off, making it difficult to lip smallies at times.

As you can see I'm not shy about staying ay home playing with my Barbies but I can say that I have lost the chance of snapping a few shots of nice fish CATCHES because of my depth preception problem.

I await your reply.

How did I miss this thread. Excellent.

May I add a few,

One shall never ask another fisherman where he caught his fish.

If asked where one caught said smallmouth, it is always acceptable to reply "In the mouth"

One shall never ask another fisherman how many he caught.

If asked, it shall be universally known that, 1 or 2 is a "couple", 3 to 100 is a "few" or if it was a really good day then it is also acceptable to state that you just got skunked.

One shall never ask another fisherman what he caught said fish on.

If asked, the appropriate answer is, "a Bobbin' Jock" of which of course no such lure exists but does mislead and conjure up various inappropriate images.

Terry,

No reply? I guess you have to wait till they sober up.

No reply needed.

I retract my request.

I lipped two (2) nice smallies this morning the biggest being 17 3/4".

Computer is still down. Bad mother board. Need to get a whole new system. I'm using my VERY slow lap top at the moment.
