Bendback CF Minnow

Recommended Posts

These are bendback CF minnows that I've been playing with as of late. Got the idea from Allen Rupp while watching him tying the bendback bucktail flies at the early-show last year.

This one with chained eyes.

These will be in the mixed coming your way for the blowout, John.

Nice flies, Tom! I love the bendback--classic and underappreciated!

Tom,

always nice flies from you but what does the bendback hook do for this pattern vs. just a standard streamer hook and beadchain or dumb bell eye mounted beneath the shank?

Hook up is always preferable IMO, what kind of hook is that?

Dai-Riki 930 Size 2.

Good point, Rob. I'd tied them these ways before, and found that the craft-fur fouled the hook point a lot.

I'm hoping that with the bent-back hooks, the fouling issue will be minimized.

The eyes of the bendback cf minnos are mounted on top of the hook shanks (not on the hook-point side) for both the beadchain and dumbbell eyes.

It is definitely interesting. I have awoke from my fly fishing sleep and tied some cloister variants in a similar fashion.
