  1. I've been making my own for several years now. I make the for my 5wt., 3 wt., 7 wt., and my 11' tenkara. I think a shorter leader is better, I use 70 denier tying thread for all mine. I treat mine with Loons Patee Paste and get good floating from them. They do tend to get water logged, but if you let them dry a little, 20 - 30 min. while using another rod then quickly treat and get back to dry fly fishing, I feel they work great. I'd love to bring everything to another meeting this winter. I'd like to find a machinist that I can work with to make a furling machine. If there are any out there. If anyone wants to contact me with questions, please email me.
  2. I've always stayed away from tying the Hellgrammite until now. Thanks for the patten.
  3. I have a Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier, a few years ago when I was trimming him I put some of his blonde trimmings is a baggie and I do use it evey once in a while. I have also trimmed his longer hair to make streamers.

    Leaders?

Hey Ryan, you should have come to the last central tying event. I made furled leaders for the ones who showed up. If you want to start making them on your own, we should get together. Once you've got the system down it's pretty quick. Once you make the jig for them, the only cost is the thread, mono, or florocarbon to make them. You can get 2 or 3 leaders from 1 spool of thread.
  5. Hey Dana Lee, I've got a very good friend that does the bleach and It works great for him. I'm not so keen on rubbing bleach on my body.
  6. I have a 12 foot Porta Boat for sale. This boat needs some TLC. I'm asking $200.00 or BO for the Boat. Give me a call. 309.287.1425 OK, I need to get rid of this thing. If you want it, come and get it. The first $50.00 takes it.
  7. Hey Guys, I've been using my Tencara rod since early summer know and I do love it. I've used it for Bluegill, Crappie, and even caught a few bass and catfish on it. The largest of which was 6 lbs. I make my own furled leaders now and also enjoy that.
  8. Gink works it way out. It's more temp sensitive. I've started using Loon Payette Paste. My link Works good, even in warm water.
  9. I have a WaterMaster inflatable My link and have been using it for about a year. Last year when I first got it I called the4 state and tried to register it. I talked to 4 differant people and got 4 differant answers. Until I talk to a regional supervisor and He told me that if I am allowed to fly fish in a body of water it is then legal to use a float tube. I asked why that was and he stated that, it is understood that flyfishers wade and if use are using a tube or boat that your feet are in the water you are basically wading. He also appologized for the confusion at the office on the subject and says this has been happening more and more over the last few years. This is my 0.02. I fish in many public bodies and haven't had a problem yet.
  10. Jim, This would be Money well spent. Check it out. http://www.realflight.com/basic.html# The Hobbyland store in Bloomington IL Has the advanced version set up in there store and you can try it out. The Owner says he has guys come in and learn to fly on it and then if they like it they will either buy it or buy an aircraft. I have flown with this system for a while ( a friend has it) and it is GREAT. You will learn all operations of the flight controls. Drop me a line if you have questions.
