  1. I bought a new router bit for a project I am doing in the workshop and it cam in a very nice and high quality container with a screw off cap and a hanger. Right away I saw a use in this type of container for my wading friends up in the North Country. It would make a dandy container for carrying tackle like flies or small jigs and crankbaits. It is five inches long and the inside diameter is 1-5/8". Here are some pictures. I sure wish it would have had some markings that would show where it was made and by who.
  2. Those are some of my favorites also. I have the In-Fisherman Book and still subscribe to the In-Fisherman Mag. I don't get Bass Masters or North American Fishing Club though.
  3. Jack, Welcome to the Ozarks and congratulations on finally getting that rock moved. That is a pretty are over that way and you will enjoy it very much. I am about 312 miles from you here in Nixa, Mo. You will enjoy the friendly helpful people and the mild winters. Yes we get some snow and Ice Storms but they are usually gone in a day or two. Keep you membership and let us all know what you're doing and how you're doing.
  4. They may be waiting for an article from the Master of the Kankakee Norm.
  5. I bet that same waitress is there working too! She remembers me every time I come in even though it is once a year now.
  6. I'd love Baba's for breakfast and would sure like to join you if it wasn't so far to drive. Enjoy the breakfast and the new Strictly Fishing and Archery.
  7. This is really no surprise because they are only worried about revenue from housing and other tax entities. If they voted for it they may cheat themselves out of Tax Revenue for School Funding.
  8. I think those are going to catch you some very Nice Smallies. They look like fish catchers.
  9. If I remember correctly it was at a Blowout in Kankakee, Il. at the VFW Hall.
  10. We all know that Don is not nearly coordinated enough to use a Flyrod to catch a Smallmouth unless he was just dabbling. That is a beautiful picture. But I am with Scott on this one. We gonna need video footage of Don casting, working the fly, seeing the take, setting the hook and then landing the fish. I mean we are talking about Don R here.
  11. We used the same basic lures when the Lake was at the top. Jigs, Tubes, and Worms.
  12. Glad to hear you got through the surgery okay and are now heading down recovery road possibly in a wagon pulled by a snail but on your way none the less. I assume that new Flyrod has helped the pain somewhat. I guess you need to come down here and we can dropshot for Smallies. No casing involved.
  13. Yea, Yea, Yea you got a new Rod! Now explain to us how you managed to get your wife to drive you to Gander Mountain. You sold your sole right or promised her a new couch, chair, bedroom suite. Come on Jonn spill the beans we need to know this for future reference.
  14. Because of the utra clear water down here I have started using Seaguar Fluorocarbon line and it has been very good. Works well in 6-8lb for the Spinning reels and 17lb for the Baitcasters. The reason I went to it was I fished with a guide friend of mine and he whipped my butt with the same lure, lineweight, and presentation. The only difference was the Seaguar line.
  15. Shoot I forget things from one minute to the next. I know they aren't mine as mine never left the truck. Must have been some non-ISA member fishing in the area before you guys.
  16. One of the things I taught myself and my students what I was a Firearms instructor was to shoot with the left hand. I shot against the State Police instructor during one of our session at the State Police Range in Joliet and beat him using my left hand. I was pretty proud of that. You can teach yourself to use the other hand if you really need to.
  17. Good luck Jonn! God is with you and you will be good as new in a few weeks so don't push it. This may be the time to learn to use a stick some line and a bobber.
  18. RonK, I have found when fishing the Fox that if you fish behind in and around a pod of Carp foraging through the sand, gravel and whatever else you will catch many Smallmouths. I picked up about 90 Smallies one day near Oswego fishing just such a pod of carp. Was a wonderful day and never had to move.
  19. Go up to Shelbyville, Illinois and fish the Kaskaskia River for Smallmouths. They have been doing some work on that river the last three or four years so you have a good chance of getting some good Smallmouths.
  20. Congratulations to Don Rego on his appointment to President of the ISA. Myself being a friend of Don's for many years now I feel confident that he will be a great President and lead us into the next phase of our existence.
  21. Stay tuned for Jonn's Special Fly Patterns coming soon!
  22. I don't know with the distance those picture were taken from it could be just somebody impersonating Jonn and not really Jonn Flycasting for Smallies. :D
  23. I have Reel Magic in the boat and use it quite a bit Phil. It seems to relax the line and take out some of the kinks.
  24. You couldn't have a more knowledgeable representative then Norm for this position. When it comes to all things Kankakee Norm is the man for the job. Thanks Norm for stepping up to the plate and running with the ball.
  25. What not camera crew to record this 17" Smallie dragging you down the DuPage River on a Kayak. It sounds like the Good far outweighed the Bad and the Ugly. Keep that anchor handy to throw out so you can fight those feisty Smallmouths.
