  1. I saw an article today about a rental device called the Redux that can dry out a wet cell phone. They say it works like a microwave oven. It is available at Verizon Wireless stores. For ten dollars they will analyze your wet phone and tell you if it can be salvaged. For a fee ($80-$100 bucks) they can dry it out and recover all functions. Sounds like something a stream fisherman could use.
  2. I really enjoyed the Blowout. I connected with a lot of excellent fishermen and got some hints about new water to explore this year. The only downside is that I am so pumped I have spent 24 hours on the computer looking at maps, videos, kayaking sites and lure companies since I got home Saturday night. I am ready to go fishing right now! I'm sorry Eugene, but I hope all the ice melts tomorrow.
  3. Snow, not smallmouth. I hope the guys working the Schaumburg show on Sunday got home safely.
  4. I am glad to see that this is finally being addressed. There are some spots on Big Rock Creek near Plano that have similar looking stream banks. Years ago these spots were photographed and reported, but I don't believe anything has been done about it. I guess it has to get on tv to get a response.
  5. It is always good to have a reason to get outdoors in this colder weather. The clean up and sign repair went off without a problem. I also had a few new fishing hotspots pointed out to me by a certain gentleman who bears a striking resemblance to the late Jerry Garcia. Thanks for the nice breakfast, ISA.
  6. Rob, Ed and John, Here is one more picture from the show. My only complaint is the hours of show. I got home in time to watch the Bears-Packers game.
  7. Thanks to Ed for the planning, and thanks to Tom for his generosity. A really enjoyable time. That green tea ice cream really was a fine way to top off the meal.
  8. It really irritates me when landowners put up no trespassing signs at the river's edge and then dump stuff into a public river. I saw this the other day on a kayak outing
  9. It was more searching than catching this time . The scenery was much better than the fishing. We were still there on Monday when the high temperature was 48, with 25 mph winds and a steady rain. We made it home in time to watch Monday Night Football!
  10. While some of you were wasting a day watching the Bears play the Packers, the real men were up north beyond the Cheddar Curtain searching for smallmouth.
  11. Craig is the man! He really puts in a lot of effort for this event that really helps us amateur volunteers get through the day. He brings lawn chairs, snacks, bottled water, bug spray and sun block for all to share. The ISA casting area was busy all day. Even Yogi Bear showed up and tried his hand at landing a velcro fish (frog).
  12. Mark is featured in the latest Prairie Rivers Network newsletter. The article "A Rural Paradise Lost" describes the trauma of living near large hog operations like the one proposed for Marshall County along Sandy Creek. Mark is quoted about the bass fishing in Sandy Creek.
  13. Jim, Just be careful what feathers you keep. There are some federal prohibitions about collecting certain feathers from songbirds, eagles, etc.
  14. Out on a stream earlier this week I came across this feather. It was about 6 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide. Any bird experts out there know what type of bird it came from?
  15. I just fished Sandy today and caught 15 feisty smallmouth. This stream should be helped.

    New Ride

Looks great Scott. Did the black bags on top of the pontoons come with, or are those the ones from your old boat? Also, are the foot rests wide enough to get your leg comfortably around the depth finder? They look a little short to me.
  17. Check out Luther Dickinson's song "Mojo, Mojo" on his solo album. (Member of North Mississippi Allstars). He may have your answer.
