  7. amen,I have been thinking along those very lines for a couple of weeks now.I haven't come to any conclusions yet and I welcome any and all suggestions.
  8. I totally agree that some of the best meetings are when we just get together in a relaxed atmosphere to socialize a bit. That is why our February meeting will be a casual breakfast meeting at Harner's Bakery and Restaurant overlooking the Fox river in North Aurora. A good breakfast and the camaraderie of fellow smallmouth fisherman. What could be better on a winters morning? Ed B
  9. .On Saturday,November 13th 8 members attended the meeting at Dick's in Schaumburg. Our speaker for the evening was Barry O'flynn of PK lures who gave us a presentation on the new line of lures and jigging spoons from PK lures,While these new lures were primarily designed for walleye fishing, they should be readily adaptable for smallmouth. The presentation evolved into a general discussion on smallmouth fishing and the application of these new lures. We will evaluate the turnout for this meeting in our planning for the future functions of the Chicago region and how we can best accommodate the largest number of members. Ed B
  10. Due to the popularity of our successful breakfast meetings our February breakfast meeting will be held at Harners Restaurant and Bakery 10 West State street North Aurora Ill. http://www.harnersbakery.com/ We will,of course, be right next to the Fox river should the weather allow some fishing afterward.

  12. Thanks Eugene,I have been so wrapped up with the pizza party that I have neglected to promote our second meeting for November. As you have said we want to give the members who live further North their opportunity to participate. Don't let us down guys see you there! Ed B
  13. While we had only 13 members attend I do believe our 1st annual season ending pizza party was still a resounding success. In fact the evening went so well that we never even got around to having our raffle. The pizza was quite good and the evening was filled with fishing stories, sharing information and even rehashing some old discussions from the forums. All in all, as I have said the event was a resounding success that I am sure every one who was there will agree. Ed Buric
  14. I know that some pictures were taken at the cast and compare function.Should you have any usable pictures could you manage to e-mail some to either John Loebach or myself; j.loebach@comcast.net or ebburic@yohoo.com
  15. RSVP not necessary I am looking forward to seeing you there in fact I am looking forward to seeing all of our members there.2 days to go make your plans now.
  16. It is now exactly one week untill the first annual PIZZA PARTY.The good news is that the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance will now step in to help defray the cost of the pizzas.Adult beverages will still be your own responsibility. This is shaping up to be the event of the year don't miss it! Ed Buric
  17. It is now just over one week until the first annual Illinois Smallmouth Alliance Pizza Party.CLEAR YOUR CALENDAR!
  18. Jude I wish you more than luck,I wish you success. Ed
  19. The event went extremely well,in fact the rain never even slowed anyone's enthusiasm. While I don't have the exact number I believe there were around 20 or so in attendance. What impressed me the most though was how much help and advice was being freely offered to everyone, both by skilled members and certified fly casting instructors. In my opinion this is what our organization is and should be all about. There were quite a number of pictures taken and I am sure that someone will post some.John has done a fantastic job once again and I am sure that he can fill in the specific details.
  20. I am going to hijack John's cast and compare and open it to everyone, spin and baitcasters will now be included. If you have a spin or baitcasting outfit you would like to show off or if you are particularly proud of your casting skills, come on out and show us all. Ed B
  21. That will work for me, consider it done. Ed
  22. It is now just a little over 2 weeks until our first annual season ending pizza party.Everyone is invited to come and have a good time with your fellow smallmouth fishermen, enjoy some very good pizza, talk fishing and maybe tell a few tall tales. The party will be at Pappa Passeros Pizza 6326 South Cass avenue Westmont Il Friday November 5th at 7:00 pm.There will be a cash bar and we will all share the dinner bill.Come on out for what will be a fun evening. ED Buric
  23. actually this sounds a lot like an ISA outing with competition.Rather than compete against one another we prefer to help each other become more proficient smallmouth fishermen. Ed B
  24. Great job Mike! Thanks for picking up the ball for "lets hook up month" Ed B
