  1. Kelly is fishing for trout that eat smaller trout (he has a rainbow pattern on his DVD also) and trout have pretty large heads compared to their bodies.
  2. Rob, do you have a cutter for the BBBB? If so can you bring it to the next Central ISA fly tying session?
  3. Sounds great. Where is Liberty Commons Community Center in relation to the old meeting plsce (Urbana Public Library)?
  4. Steve, I bought a retirement Alumacraft 16.5' last year. A couple things you may want to check: 1. The two side compartments get water in them when you fish in the rain/let it set in the rain and don't dry out (mildewed rods and life preservers).... my dealer put in two drain holes for me. 2. The paint is not tough at all (gouges/scratches) - no remedy but be very careful around docks, etc. - get bumpers 3. My guages fog up when the weather is bad and the tack goes crazy sometimes.....we are watching that. I had most trouble with the trailer - tires wore out in 3 months. The tire dealer here said 'bad balancing'. We will see on this new pair. The trailer comes with 35lb of air so they will seat/seal - then they should be pumped up to 50 and run at that. You may want to get them balanced (it took 3 big weights on each rim for me) It's a nice boat with plenty of room - I have a 90 four stroke Yahama - it idles at 800 rpm which is too fast for most trolling so I have to use a kicker for that.
  5. Harold, Dave, Dale, and I waded a couple hours - Dave got a small one on a fly, Dale, using spinning gear, had 2 on; I got a channel on a fly. It was a nice day out and the cook-out afterwards was super.
  6. Harold, Dave, and I fly fished it by canoe a couple weeks ago and came up with some gar (white minnow shaped lures worked), a small channel and a rock bass....and we tried lots of different flies and techniques. The kickapoo and the salt (by Lincoln) has had similar results. very tough fishing. Are there any other options?
  7. Fly fishing class (indoor session) is April 3 9 am = 11:30 at the Heyworth Library 119 E Main Street Heyworth.
  8. 1-4 is probably best for those attending church. It could start informally at noon for the guys wanting to tie flies to donate.... I plan to attend.
  9. I would be interested...the biggest problem in central Il is we have no fly shops to get materials at the last moment for everyone to tie a specific fly. A presenter could be left with a bunch of materials if people don't show up. So we would have to have a greater commitment and advanced planning for it to work.
  10. has not set their status

  11. Steve and I participated in this event with demos: Steve - fly fishing; Jim - fly tying.
  12. Steve, Joe - Have either of you gotten any additional information on this event? I don't know what preserve it is at or the start/end times or the expected turnout. We can team teach this .....or if it is an all day event, maybe we could set up shifts.
  13. Can we get more info on this event? Exactly where/when/goals/length of presentations etc Jim Zoerb jzoerb@verizon.net
