    Try the Lincoln IL area. It's only about 40 miles from Springfield, and there are several smallie streams there. On the north side of Lincoln there is a park on Kickapoo Creek. Salt Creek runs through Madigan State Park on the west side. My favorite is Sugar Creek, a little north and east of Lincoln off of rt 10. If you are interested I can give more specific instructions on access points.

    Greetings Gents. I'll be in Springfield 7/14-17 taking the wife to a convention, so I get 2 days of fishing while she's busy. I'd like to wade a creek for smallies, no problem to travel a few miles to fish as I routinely drive 75 mi from Cincinnati to fish my creeks and rivers.
