  1. Awesome responses so far....forgot there were so many. Hate to do this but we do have a Jerry Lewis sighting...Hook,Line and Sinker. Mark, As for the book, I will definetly have to get that and read it....need to see how it compares to the movie...River Runs Through It.
  2. On Tuesday I was flipping thru the Tele and came across one of my favorite movies that happened to relate in the story line, river fishing. This movie was made in 1992 and had Brad Pitt in one of his first big movies.....A River Runs Through It. I know there are many more movies out there that have something related in the story of side stories that have or mention fishing in it. Go ahead and see how many we can come up with and see what our count can actually come too. Let the fun begin!!!!
  3. Gary....you know what they say....a bad day fishing beats a good day at work......wait a minute...your days at work are fishing Keep the post scoming...look forward to future posts from the great state of Missouri. Go get'em Gary.
  4. Congrats on your new found fame of your baby girl. Just think off all the fish lies , I mean stories that you will be able to pass on to her later in life. Just remember one thing and that is that time flies very fast. Again congrats and TRY and get some sleep.
  5. Thanks to all for the comments and possible suggestions. I may try my luck and get a replacement tip to see how it will work and handle. Talking about handles....it has that sure fire fixer on it (were the cork material has peeled off) grey duct tape. Now you can see why it is my favorite rod. It has been thru H*** and back.
  6. So, has anyone else had this problem in the past. You get in your car, drive along for a while, roll down the windows and enjoy the fresh air. Get to your destination and start to roll up the windows and then here that awful sound "snap" . Look back and of course the tip gets cut of due to protrusion from the car to the outside. As the heading says, eventhough what I said was alittle bit more onscene, it has gotten the worst of me in the past. Can anyone give me some feed back on how to fix this. Do they sell new tips at stores and if so, can I assume it is an easy fix. The pole that snapped is beat up, but it is one I do not want to let go. It is my go to pole in my eyes Thanks for help and suggestions.

  8. Holy cow....or should I say PIG!! That is one monster fish. I have hit the waterways in the past with Jason and he definetly hooks into the larger fish more often than not. His main thing is size not quantity. Just think if that in fact was a record breaker. The itch as started up again...I can't stop this outbreak
  9. It is always good to read your reports. It seems that every report you have you ARE hooking into a 17"er or larger. Keep up the good work. Maybe you can show me "grasshopper" how to stay active, fishing, during the cold months. Keep the reports coming and do NOT slow down.
  10. Don.....don't forget about the most important one for the "dink" translation.....the illustrious....Slam Dunk. From our last adventure you had one in this category and when you let that thing go, lets just say, it went right for my "manhood". Never had that happen before and hopefully never again. I almost took a second dunking on the Duper that day.
  11. Mark....there are many ways to rig these as you know, but for the crawbugs I use either a 1/0 or 2/0 hooks and a slip weight of either a 1/32nd, 1/16th or 1/8 oz. Place the hook thru the tail about 1/8" down and then turn the hook back around and bring it thru the top portion of the crawbug. Place the tip slightly back into the crawbug to make it weedless. This has produced some of the largest fish for me over the last 2 years. As for the crawbugs, the 2-1/2 inch ones work the best. Always keep an eye on the river flow because that determines the depth and the time that it sits in front of the target...the Smallie. I hope this helps you out. Another bait of choice that I was turned onto was the Super fluke jr. The bass just eat up just about everytime.
  12. Thanks for the responses. I will have to give it a try in the next few weeks and give a report as to what my findings are. If there is an improval on these waters it will make it easier to fish near home. I will keep my fingers crossed when I am on the waters.
  13. I recently have moved back to the Park Ridge area and drive by the Des Plaines River everyday. Is there ANYTHING at all to try for in this part of the river. When I was growing up in this area, the waters were not plentiful. Are they worth hitting in any way or should I ignore it all together. Much appreciate any response on this river and the surroundings. What is your take on it.
