While I love fishing for Smallmouth bass it's also fun to fish for other species, mainly largemouth bass too. A lot of my time is taken in aquiring old fishing items, building exhibits, researching, writing and sharing my finds.

No one in my family fished but a nearby tackle shop owner, Charlie Sutphin, a many times national casting champion taught me. Passing it on is a great pleasure and I spend a lot of time specializing in teaching kids to fish the right way.

In addition to giving a lot of usable tackle to children we also support our troups with tackle they can use on R&R or to make friends with the local people where they serve.

Not only do I like the old fishing tackle but am addicted to the newest too. As one of the first charter/life members of BASS and an early tournament angler I thirst for the latest tools and techniques.

Nothing is more fun than to have an outing where it seems the fish have lockjaw and then to sort it all out and get on a roll with bite after bite. A close second is to find an old lure that I haven't seen before then to research it's history and share it in an article.
