mustad makes a hook called the slow death it has nothing to due with the death of fish but is actually a bent hook that twists a crawler ot plastic in the water made famous by walleye anglers tolling them behind bottom bouncer rigs must have a swivel or they wil twist up . the remind me of the pre rigged ike con worm as far as action has anyone tried them ? i picked some up to try tying my worm fly on. google it , there are plenty of videos of how to rig with underwater photos rich

Bought a couple packets of the slow death hooks last year, Rich . . . were made primarily for walleye fishing as you note, but I do wonder if smallies would also bite the rotating nightcrawler? Plan to answer my own question this year as I head out trolling in my boat.
