Terry Dodge welcomes meeting speaker , Charles E. Corley from the IEPA Rocckford office.
Earth, Wind, Water-no Fire
Mr Corley gave a great talk about the work of the IEPA which has been on the job for over 40 years. Its three divisions take care of land, air and water issues in the state. Major activities are issuing of permits, inspections, and investigation of incidents that affect environmental quality. Violations are turned over to to the Attourney General for prosecution. Like the DNR the IEPA is going through a rough period for funding. With limited ability to perform inspections, they depend on citizens reports to uncover problems. The number to call for emergency situations is 800 782-7860. The number for the Rockford office is 815 987-7760.
