Forrest Miller
Stopped by the kayak shop in Aurora today. Looked at the Jackson Mayfly. Got a quote. Mayfly, car rooftop system with easy side load system, and paddle around $3400 out the door. Now, to convince my wife I "need" this setup... Ed Buric
Tell her you will get it in a color that will compliment her eyes
Forrest Miller
Rich, I may or may not still be in the doghouse over that bamboo rod. Or maybe it was the matching Abel that got me in the doghouse. Either way, I just don't bring that purchase up anymore.
Scott Ferguson
Sell off a bottle or two of fancy bourbon. Wouldn't that cover it?
Forrest Miller
Scott, it would take a sell of 2 bottles. The bourbon market is on a down-tick right now. It will go back up in the fall. Investment strategies!
SeanL
That's essentially how I funded my Coosa HD a few months ago, figured I would get more out of it than a few bottles of bourbon and beer.
Forrest Miller
Sean, what bourbons did you sell off?? You sound like my kind of people.
Mark K
How much does it weigh? Seems like a lot of the boats these days weight goes out the window.
Forrest Miller
Mark, the boat is 85 pounds. That's why I will need the fancy roof rack that slides off to the side of the car and down. It's called the showdown. https://www.yakima.com/showdown
Terry Dodge
Now, to convince my wife I "need" this setup... My wife was good with it just because she knew it would get me out of the house away from her and out of her hair.
Steve S.
My friend has one, he says its pretty heavy but he'll deal with it as it's pretty awesome so far. I don't think he's gotten it out on a river yet but he's in Door County now, so I expect a more thorough review.
SeanL
Forrest, I didn't sell off anything crazy, just ORVW 10 and a Lot B. Plus a few bottles of Weller 12 since that's all the rage now.
Ben K.
Very cool boat, Those built in rod tubes are the best. Have you got to demo test the boat on the showdown rig? I'm not sure your car or abilities but that looks like its going to force you to lift your Jackson nearly chest high and level. I would suggest checking out a simpler roller/slider system, you lift the nose of your boat up on it, then lift from the back and slide it into the saddles. This way you never have to lift the full weight of your boat. It will save you around 300 too which the wife might like
